| Any fans? I know they got together for a few shows recently, but after watching that VH1 show trying to get bands to reunite for a gig, I didn't think they'd ever do it, since Nuno's response was pretty much a big "F*ck off!". I think they went out with a big belly flop, too; Waiting For The Punchline just wasn't all that great. But their other three albums were excellent, especially III Sides To Every Story, which I think is way underrated.
I wonder if they can do another solid rock album? Cherone's recent solo EP was like Sinatra meets Michael Bolton. Not quite a rock album. Haha. I look forward to a new CD, though, but I'll keep my expectations in check.
| Quote: | Boston-based rock group EXTREME is set to return in the spring of 2008 with its first album of all new material in 13 years. The band features original members Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Gary Cherone (vocals) and Pat Badger (bass), along with new drummer Kevin Figueiredo.
In the coming weeks, EXTREME will announce its plans for a world tour in 2008 as well as a release date and label for the as-yet-untitled album, which is being produced by Bettencourt. The guitarist says: "It will have all the ingredients of an EXTREME record. The music is always funkier than most rock bands — and born a bipolar bastard child of Mr. Zeppelin and Mrs. Beatles."
EXTREME has been introduced to a new generation of music fans who are connecting with the band through MySpace as a result of the inclusion of their song "Play With Me" on 2007's Guitar Hero video game. Outside of EXTREME, Cherone joined VAN HALEN as lead singer in 1998, co-writing the "Van Halen III" album and touring the world with them. Bettencourt joined up with JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell to form the band SATELLITE PARTY and co-produce their album, "Ultra Payloaded". SATELLITE PARTY also featured drummer Kevin Figuieredo, who was previously in a band with Bettencourt called DRAMAGODS.
Through the years, Bettencourt and Cherone have remained close and continued to collaborate on occasion. But what exactly inspired them to rejoin forces as EXTREME?
"Rock and roll famine…I know it might sound crazy, but there is a massive shortage of rock and roll on this planet," says Bettencourt. "It's almost extinct. I mean the true spirit of quality rock and roll — you know, musicianship, when you would give up every moment of your day to master your instrument and create your own identity and sound so as to respectfully outdo all your past heroes whilst proudly wearing the badge of their influences."
"Passion," says Bettencourt, is what drives EXTREME. "To do whatever it takes, with integrity, to bring music to the people, not because of fame…but just cause you simply couldn't wait to share it with them."
"We realized," adds Bettencourt, "not only are the people starved for rock and roll...So are we. Let's eat."
Look for the group to perform Saturday, December 1 at the Boston Music Awards at the Orpheum Theatre.

| I never could get into these guys. My buddy was a huge Nuno fan and would listen to 'em all the time. I even saw them live as an opening act (Great White?) but it didn't do anything for me. Nuno's a very talented guy, but the rest is just...meh. Good for them reuniting. Everyone else is, why shouldn't they? |

| I liked the debut and the PORNOGRAFFITI album back in the day (saw'em live on the PORNO tour, too, shortly before "More Than Words" blew up) but listening to them now, honestly their stuff (to my ears at least) has aged about as well as a carton of milk left in the driveway in July. Good luck to'em on the reunion though. I'm sure there are tons of people who will willingly pay $$ to hear'em play "More Than Words" for the ten bazillionth time. _________________

| I hate "More Than Words." Can't stand that song. They're much better than that one. _________________ "Happy people have no stories." —Therapy?

Hey!! Some of the best times of my misspent youth were spent with girls like this!! Acid wash jeans and big hair never goes out of style, especially in South Jersey. I love the smell of aqua-net and cigarettes. |

| I wasn't knockin' her. I wouldn't kick that girl out of the bed either. I would have been in lust with her in 1990. |

No problem. Now if you wouldn't mind removing my sister's pic from your post, we're cool. |

| Extreme were a good band, I don't know why there is all this animosity for them. Their best work however, IMO, was III Sides To Every Story. That album was pure hard rock gold, every single song kicks ass. For those who only know Whole Hearted and More Than Words should give that album a spin before they make any judgements. _________________

Aside from spectrefate, none of us were really trashing the band. Freddy & Eyesore said some nice things and MC & myself didn't care for 'em. The big-haired teeny-bopper is just poking fun at their "More Than Words" fans. I don't even have a sister. |

I liked "More Than Words" when I first heard it. Ten million radio and MTV plays later.... not so much.
Unfortunately, that song became the albatross around their collective necks. Everyone expected the follow up record to sound just like that song. _________________

You must have hung around the Birch Hill in Old Bridge at some point, MetalGuy? It was crawling with girls who looked just like this well into the mid 90s!!! _________________

Oh yea. Birch Hill, Bonnies Roxx, the Jersey shore. I've spent much time and money in these locations, trying to woo the spandex off gals like that back in the day. |

I actually grew up in West Virginia, and this girl was the hottest chick in our school.

The sad thing is that there are still girls like this around, the problem is their hair is the only thing that's stayed "up" if you know what I mean. Everything else has sagged. _________________

| | And despite having 3 kids and packing on some serious pounds, they have no problem stretching on them spandex pants. I admire gals that stick with the same look for 20+ years. |

Come on up to Jersey next time Poison tours through this area. You can have your pick. _________________

I saw a few at the Van Halen concert last month as well. And yes, Poison and Bon Jovi brings them out in droves. Ooooo-faa. |
