I've seen them live. They were good and highly entertaining.

What are you talking about!!! The reason they
were on Guitar hero is because they were famous/well known. You don't
get to have the major finale song in a game as popular as Guitar hero
without being at least moderately famous.

As for people moaning
about the commercial sucess of this band, please, shut up. If you don't
like Dragonforce thats fine, each to their own, but don't not like them
beacause they are sucessful, come on.

This attitude is getting
worse and worse in Metal these days, people moaning about bands
becoming sucessful, never understood it.

Now, if someone wants
to slag this band off then can we at least have someone with a grain of
intelligence please say something of merit.

Word twister. I never said they weren't popular before, but since they were
in the game, BAM!!!! Gold album. And besides, I like them just fine.
I'm not complaining about their success, they deserve it! Their all
pretty talented guys, but seriously, would half of their fans even know
of their existence if it wasn't for GH? And how could you possibly
deduce my intelligence from ONE FREAKING SENTENCE. I'm with that
Daybreaker guy.

And by the way....500th post.

I just cant get into them, tried to, but something just seems off with them.

They do bear a strong resemblance to Virgin Steele though IMO.

One thing I think we can ALL agree on is that no other band, with the possible exception of Nightwish, divides more metal fans than Dragonforce (at least we all can agree that Dragonforce is metal, something that can't be said about Nightwish-let's not get into that debate again Smile ).

I find things like this an interesting study.

Wonder how many other "cheesy" power metal bands, no matter how similar in style, would get a few pages on most metal boards, with the otherwise casual fan seriously considering picking the album up?

It's not because DF is vastly better than the rest. Worth listening to, but not head and shoulders above anybody.

Hype sells, and sooner or later metalheads won't be too different from pop fans when it comes to buying into it and feeding the frenzy...

Maybe us benighted sheep, lapping up what we're fed, like being mindlessly entertained?

Or.....maybe there are plenty of us who know all about the more "worthy" bands.....but still like Dragonforce?!!!! The horror!

Eh, I sold all my DF cds a while back. They are a novelty band at best IMO. Granted, they have immense talent, but when every song sounds almost exactly the same.... lame

I watched these guys live a few weeks ago, I thought they were very good and entertaining. Goofy acting on stage just made them fun to watch. They sounded good too, granted if you have heard one of their songs you have pretty much heard them all but it was a fine show and a good time.

Piss off. You know exactly what I meant, what I'm talking about, anyone with a brain does, and you choose to be that way simply because you don't feel you need to respect what some people say. Same to you.

Sometimes being passionate can come across as arrogance on message boards. I know what your both trying to say and I don't think OCI is referring to anyone in particular here, but sometimes you need to post with care.

I still say this band has written three very good songs.

The problem is that they keep morphing them into full albums and re-releasing them.

Lots of technical instrumental talent but little songwriting ability IMO.

Releasing rehashed versions of the same three songs = Sleep in my book.

this sums the band up perfectly. Slow it down a bit AND ADD SOME MELODY AND THEY WOULD BE GREAT

Have no clue what your talking about. To my ears Dragonforce exhume melody throughout their music. However, your right that they should slow down, if they did, I'm sure you and others would be able to hear the melody better.

When a band plays the same speed every song all the melodies sound a like. They have one melody imo and base every song off of that one. When i hear a dragonforce song i go oh i know this chorus but its the chorus from one of there other songs thats how similar there melodies are...
