| This has kind of been touched on in other threads. But is there a rock show you had been looking forward to that ended up dissappointing you?
Mine was Deep Purple this past summer in Clearwater. DP is a top three favorite band for me. While it WAS a great show, the DP attitude was lacking. I understand everyone in the band is over 60, but there was something missing. That "thing" was the fire that Blackmore and Lord brought to the band. Try as they might, the mix of Morse and Airey didn't gel well in my mind, and I left early with my head hung low. If only I were born a generation earlier......
It was bad ass to see Gillan, Glover, and Paice. |

| | Van Halen with Sammy. I saw them twice, and both times, they were good, but not great. I saw DLR of the Eat 'Em and Smile tour, so I DID get get to see the real Van Halen.... sort of. |

| | TT, have you seen the Live Without a Net DVD or VHS? That is all I have seen of Van Hagar, and that concert was pretty awesome. If you have seen it, were your shows anything like that? |

| The first time I saw Warrior Soul in the Fall of '93, they were a complete and total train wreck. The original band lineup had fallen apart during the recording of CHILL PILL so Kory Clarke was fronting a pick-up band featuring two new guitarists (no idea who they were) who apparently didn't know the songs at all. The sound mix at this particular club (The Wave in Staten Island, NY) was terrible as well, the entire night (both openers and Warrior Soul) sounded like a cement mixer. Kory was screaming his ass off just to be heard over the feedback and terrible mix. I felt really bad for him that night.
Fortunately I saw Warrior Soul three more times between '94-95 (THE SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS era) when yet another new lineup had had time to "gel" and they smoked at every gig I saw, which more than made up for that horrible first impression! _________________

| | FF, WS opened for Queensryche on the Empire tour. I remember one of my girl friends from around that time saying that she slept through Queensryche after Warrior Soul kicked her ass. I would have loved to see them on that tour. I believe it was the Drugs, God & The New Republic Tour. |

Oh yea, I would've given my left nut to see'em during that era too (or the SALUTATIONS FROM THE GHETTO NATION run...they were on FIRE at that time!) but they never seemed to play anywhere that I could get to during that period.
I understand that during the Queensryche tour, they got boo'ed off the stage in a lot of places due to Kory's anti-Bush speeches and rhetoric. I read somewhere years back that he considered that the worst tour Warrior Soul ever did.
At one of the shows I saw during the SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS era, I remember the crowd wasn't really getting into it and he said "Come ON you pussies! Where do you think you ARE, at a Queensryche concert?" Haha! _________________

| Spectrefate......close yours eyes!!
Wicked Wisdom.....the energy was great! The band was great! Jada was in all other ways GREAT....but her live vocals were disappointing...
All other concerts have been worth the money that I can remember.
Bride NEVER came close to disappointing the 6 times I saw them. They were the most consistent.
Dio was mildly disappointing....but I think the sound system or the acoustics were at fault. It was an awesome venue in some ways but his vocals were doing weird gymnastics in the place the concert was at.... _________________ I'm warning you. I'll be forced to Thrash you!

| | KISS.. I saw them for the first tiime when they had their farewell tour with ace and peter. i saw them at jones beach on long island (a place where i dont like to see concerts at in the first place). I believe it was the first night of a 3 night show. The sound was bad, ace was horrible and they just played too much of the usual songs. I realy liked psycho circus and I was hoping to hear some more of those songs but whatever. It was nice to actually say I saw them I just wish that the show was a little better especially for KISS. I never understood why peter criss' drums always sounded so weak live. |

Never have seen it.
For the record, Van Hagar were a good band live. Just not.... quite what they could have been, IMO.
Then again, I have several DVD's of the DLR years, and none of them quite compare with that EEAS show, either..... |

Yes. Yes they do.
Why haven't either one of us ever started a Warrior Soul thread around here Spec??
Oh, right...because we tend to turn every thread into a Warrior Soul thread somewhere along the line. _________________

| | Megadeth (with Stone Temple Pilots, of all people, opening) was dissappointing because of sound issues. College basketball gyms just send the sound bouncing all over everywhere. It was a great performance that just couldn't overcome the lousy venue. |

I thought we did too. I remember going on a rant about being all pumped up about seeing Black Label Society then coming away very dissappointed. I've tried searching for it, but I don't know what the topic was. |

| Nothing wrong with discussing things more than once.
Worst show I ever saw was King's X opening for Dio & Hammerfall. Hammerfall & Dio were great. I love King's X but they just blew it at this show. They were having some sort of problem with their sound on stage even though it sounded fine through the monitors. By the third song Doug Pinnick threw his bass on the ground, finishing singing the song without the bass. At the end of the song, threw the mic and stand on the ground and walked off stage leaving his bandmates to stare blankly at the crowd.
Three out of the four times I have seen Dokken were pretty bad as well. I would have swore that someone stapled Don Dokken's feet to the stage, cause he didn't move. However, when I saw them touring with Whitesnake they were really good. _________________

| Well, when I went to see Slayer for my first time (I was 17 then), we went all up to Munich, Germany, and due to all kinds of troubles, we needed about 10 hours to get there. After 30 minutes of Slayer (and that half an hour was great!!), Tom Araya lost his voice, so they left the stage - after Seasons in the Abyss + one more song, which were just instrumentals, and the most disappointing, Raining Blood, which was sung by the frontman of Hatebreed - kind of, because the idiot started singing Angel of Death. _________________ Welcome to the slaughter, I hope you're having fun!!

I can second that. When I saw Dokken, Jeff, and Reb Beach ran out around the stage, waving their hair around and Mick thrashed the drumkit. Don slowly walked on stage then stood there for the remainder of their set, barely talking to the crowd. Jeff Pilson did most of the stage banter, with Mick chiming in. While he sounded fine, Don came off looking real bad, like he was too cool to be there. |

| i saw wasp which was a total letdown. blackies just a bloated old man now. they played for about an hour. they didn't play f**k like a beast. they also cut out chainsaw charlie which was on the setlist taped to the stage. they didn't throw out picks becuase u had to buy them, 4 for £7. blackie didn't swing on the legendary micstand. just rubbish
plus i saw motorhead the day before so my expectations were all up because lemmy and co were absolutely awesome _________________ erutangisnikufesin |
