| | I've been on a pretty major Scorpions kick for the past few weeks and it has dawned on me that my knowledge of their stuff begins with the "Lovedrive" album ... my collection is pretty much complete from then on, but I own nothing of their material from the earlier 1970s... so which ones should I look into? Suggestions would be appreciated. |

| 1. Virgin Killer 2. Taken By Force 3. In Trance 4. Tokyo Tapes 5. Fly to the Rainbow
Lonesome Crow is soooo vastly different than the rest of the band's catalog. It's sort of trippy 70's psychedelic stuff, not unlike the first few UFO albums before Schenker. _________________

Thanx for the tips, Ult. I assume these are listed in order of preference? |

Yes. However, Saxon's suggestion is just as valid. Indeed "Tokyo Tapes" is a great album.

Absolutely awesome disc. It's my favorite of their early stuff. "Lonesome Crow" is good, but you have to be in the mood for a lot of music and not much singing. |

| | Taken by force has been my fave from day one. The driving riff of "I've Gotta be Free" is classic, despite the silly lyrics. |

I like Lonesome Crow as well, but you have to admit, it's a very different album than anything else they have recorded since.

| | I have TBF and it's a great record. I bought it because of Testament's cover of Sails of Charon. I love that main riff. |

Completely agree.... You might also look for a German Best of Comp called 'Hot & Slow' - RCA 4-5 tracks from every 70's disc with the exception of 'Lonesome Crow' I thought it was a pretty good representation.... Or track down Best of Scorpions Vol 1 and Vol 2 .... also on RCA... these are out of print, but I bet through either Amazon or Ebay you can get 'em fairly cheap.... They were released on CD. Vol 1 I thought was awesome. If you like their other material you'll like the older stuff, just know that there will be some more 70's influenced material..... Favorite old tune is 'Catch Your Train'.... rocks has hard as 'Blackout', 'Lovedrive', 'Big City Nights'..... Uli Roth lead guitar... smokin !!! |

| I found a vinyl copy of "In Trance" with the original cover at a flea market a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the vinyl was tore up, so I didn't even waste the couple dollars they were asking for it. _________________
