I listened to Scarecrow while taking a nice walk under the autumn trees and have to break the tie. JOP and Khymera are still tied for 2nd and are great albums, but Scarecrow is just too amazing an album and nothing (short of TSO, but that won't come out til next year) stood a chance this year.

It's amazing to me how an "underground" genre has such a vast variety of bands. I have only heard of three of those albums on your list. Metal is alive and well, that's for sure.
