| Any YES fans on this board?
Was at the gym yesterday and Long Distance Runaround came on the radio. It kicked off a desire to hear some more YES in me. I tend to get into these YES moods and start listening to CD after CD.
I also picked up Live at Montreux 2003 on DVD this past weekend.
Favorite albums? Least favorite? Discuss. _________________

| | Pretty much any album from the 70's you cant go wrong. The album "Union" from 1991 is actually not bad either, with most of the original members. |

Same here, although it's been awhile now since I went on a YES binge...
| ultmetal wrote: | | Favorite albums? |
1. Classic Yes (a great collection of the classic period which is what turned me on to them initially)
2. Fragile (as a whole, probably my fave studio album of theirs - solid all the way through)
3. The Yes Album
4. Big Generator (my fave of the "Cinema" sound era)
5. 90125
| ultmetal wrote: | | Least favorite? |
Probably Union, but there are several that I'm not completely familiar with. _________________ http://thecave.niceboard.com http://www.myspace.com/troglodawn http://www.myspace.com/christiandoomalliance

I love both of those, as well as 90210. Those 80's albums were not suppose to be released under the YES name, but with Chris Squire and Jon Anderson in the band, it was my understanding that the label forced them to use the YES name, rather than the name they were going to use, CINEMA. _________________

| Umm, I think you just outed yourself, ult. You're obviously referring to your favorite TV show from the 90's, Beverly Hills 90210, and not the stellar YES album which goes by the name 90125.

I had never heard about that until you told me a few years ago. OK, you're forgiven for the 90210/90125 screwup.
Just remember: 9012Live rhymes with 90125 - that's how I remember it. _________________ http://thecave.niceboard.com http://www.myspace.com/troglodawn http://www.myspace.com/christiandoomalliance

How is the DVD? I thought about picking up the album that they released simultaneously, but I'm curious as to how it sounds.
I love Yes, great band. My favorite album(s) are The Yes Album and Highlights: The Very Best of Yes.
I haven't really heard to many of there studio albums other than the aforementioned Yes Album and Close to the Edge, and Yessongs. I plan on checking out more of there stuff though and I'm looking forward to it. _________________ |

| LOL @ 90210. That freakin' funny.
My favorite YES albums are:
Tormato (never a fan favorite, but I have love this one since I was a kid)
The Yes Album (every song a classic)
Fragile (like the Yes Album, every song is a classic)
Yessongs (one of those great, classic live albums. I also love Yesshows)
Close to the Edge (ya gotta love an album with only three songs that clocks in at nearly 40 minutes long.) _________________

Magnification is a good CD, probably their best "recent" album.
I would highly recommend getting "The Yes Album" and "Close to the Edge". _________________

| Chris Squire has such a unique style of playing bass, plus he has that raw Rickenbacker sound. He's an exceptional bassist. _________________

| Casual fan of Yes postin' here. With the exception of "Close To The Edge", I don't really care for their longer works. My favorite album by them is either CTEE or Fragile. |

I wonder how it would sound if Chris Squire and Geddy Lee got together and made an album ? _________________ |

| Why don't they just get every bass player in the world together in one place, and we all play Big Bottom by Spinal Tap. _________________ What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?
