Stryper - Shining Star (Earth, Wind & Fire)
Deliverance - After Forever (Black Sabbath -- I always loved how they added the bit from "Symptom of the Universe" in the middle!)
Raven w/Udo Dirkschneider - "Born To Be Wild" (Steppenwolf - this version is guaranteed to clear your house of unwanted pests if played at the proper volume ) |
Can't believe I forgot "Born to Be Wild" by Raven. GREAT, GREAT COVER!!!
I also love that Stryper song. A lot of metalheads hated it, but I thought it was a great song to begin with.
Also love D's version of "After Forever". |
Great minds think alike!! |

| Most of my favorite covers have been mentioned already, but I'll add a few... Social Distortion - Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash) Bullet Boys - Rock Candy (Montrose) Lizzy Borden - Generation Landslide (Alice Cooper) Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics) Slayer - Ina-God-A-Divida (Iron Butterfly) The Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter (Simon & Garfunkel) Cheap Trick - Don't Be Cruel (Elvis?) Cinderella - Move Over (Janis Joplin) Faith No More - War Pigs (Sabbath) studio version, not the lame live version Guns N Roses - New Rose (The Damned) Joey Ramone - What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong) Johnny Cash - Hurt (NIN) Pantera - Planet Caravan (Sabbath) Gilby Clark - Shock Me (Ace Frehley) Sebastian Bach - Working Man (Rush) James Murphy/Stu Hamm - YYZ (Rush) Anthrax gets a special mention for EVERY cover song they've ever released. They always seem to pick great tunes and yet make them their own. |

| | Have you guys heard the cover of Maiden's Wasted Years by the girl group Damone? Its nothing like the rest of the album (which sounds similar to early Donnas) Its acoustic, a bit orchestral but sounds freaking great. |

Yes! Excellent cover, indeed. I bought that CD because of the song "Out Here All Night," which is killer. When "Wasted Years" came on I didn't even recognize it, even though I knew I knew the song. It's most definitely a great cover (and a great band, who aren't anything like The Donnas ). I uploaded a bunch of songs on page one, and I don't know that anyone even noticed. If anyone wants me to upload this cover, let me know. _________________ "Happy people have no stories." —Therapy?

| Just thought of a few more cover tunes I really like... Nevermore's take on Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound Of Silence" (if it weren't for the lyrics you wouldn't even recognize the song)
Black N Blue's version of "Action" by the Sweet (also covered by Raven, which is a good version too) Jag Panzer's version of Sabbath's "Children of the Sea" (on the HOLY DIO tribute album, simply awesome!) Gamma Ray's version of "It's A Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys (who knew that such a lame '80s synth pop song could be so METAL?) |
