| | I have seen Slayer related threads on best songs, hall of shame, does cd have this issue, but not one just talking the band's music and their impact on metal. Their album " Reign in Blood' is always listed on the top of most metal journalist top ten metal cds of all time, at the time of that albums release they were considered one of the most extreme metal bands. Love their three album streak "Reign in Blood', "South of Heaven" and " Seasons in the Abyss" and I also liked the fact that lyrically on this albums they spoke about real life subject matter from time to time instead of just Satan. Another great band and the last album I bought from them " God Hate Us All" I thought was excellent. |

| You can count me amongst the annoying Slayer fans, I've been listening to them since the Haunting The Chapel EP came out, have bought every release since then. I still remember listening to Chemical Warfare on headphones and checking to make sure my turntable was on the right speed!!!
Love 'em. _________________ |

I'm the best Viking fan ever. Plus, I don't run around with the same Viking shirt on everyday telling everyone about how my team is far superior to their team, and act like they're the only team on earth. And sclopo (or whatever your name is), I've been taking it easy on you. | I'm a huge OLD Slayer fan. I love everything from Show No Mercy to South of Heaven. I disliked Seasons in the Abyss, but I liked Divine Intervention. Everything after that I strongly dislike.
Also I'd agree with what detuned said in "You had to be there when it came out, it was revolutionary at the time." Very true! |

| I enjoy everything from Slayer up to Divine Intervention. I have Diabolus In Musica, and there are a few tracks on there I enjoy (only reason I keep it around). Everything else they've done was just weak, uninspired, and pretty boring. South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss are probably my favorites. Saw them live about 6 years ago and it was a great show. They played LOADS of their older tunes (only 2 "newer" tunes, and both of those were from Diabolus). It was when Paul Bostaph was with them, and that dude absolutely AMAZED me with his ability. Not quite as good as Lombardo, but VERY VERY good all the same. _________________ Who are you to look at me, as if to say I'm wrong?!

| Slayer was a band that for me, that I had a preconception of, and therefore didnt check out for a long time unfortunately. A while back, I would'nt listen to some music because of the kinds of people that liked a particular band because the said people were either annoying or dirty, because I mean, the music is probably the same as the people, right? Metallica was another that I had this problem with. Good think I dropped that mentality years ago, because Slayer absolutley shreds even though I don't agree with them lyrically alot. Wish I gave them a chance earlier. _________________ The answer to 1984 is 1776 - Alex Jones "I'll start today just feeling fine In reality my sanity is on the line Why can't life flow nice and easy Its hard when happiness is there to tease me. --Death Angel |

| I dig some Slayer but I'm not a fanboy. I say if you've got HELL AWAITS, REIGN IN BLOOD and SEASONS IN THE ABYSS then you've got the three pillars of their catalog... the rest of the stuff is just gravy _________________

| Back in the day when "The Big 4 of Thrash" were all the rage, Slayer was the only band I never listened to. I'm not sure why, as I never had a problem with their lyrics or early imagery. I guess that compared to other thrash bands at the time, my friends and I were just like "Whoa, these guys are too extreme". I just never got into them like Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. And then they just kinda faded into the background and I never gave 'em a 2nd thought. That all changed when I finally saw them live. I was blown away by their live show and couldn't wait to hear what I'd been missing. I got anything and everything they released as soon as I could. |
