Look Here!!! HEART OF METAL CONVENTION/CONCERT

So, the cool kids that meet behind the shed on the far side of the football field to smoke cigs and shoot the breeze (how's that for an intro?) have been throwing around the idea of having a Heart of Metal convention. We truly consider our members extended family. As you have noticed, no one around here has any animosity toward anyone else, we don't tolerate flamers, spammers, troublemakers, or typical jerks that pollute alot of other boards (especially, for some reason, metal boards). Anyways, it is these policies that have allowed many of us have become very good, and very real, friends. Friends that have never met one another in person. So, we have decided to change that. Below are some specifics as to our idea of having a "get-together". Please vote on the realistic possibility of you personally attending this event. If we can get this off the ground, we will be inviting the CMR, The Cave, and Firestream. We will be having charity auctions and other fundraisers to help some of our international friends get over to the states. We will look into getting hotel discounts and other insentives, once we get a rough idea of how many people are TRULY interested. This is going to happen whether it is 5 people or 500. Obviously, seeing a band like Ultimatum would be more enjoyable with a huge pit, rather than just me n Eyesore standing there headbutting each other!

This poll has the option of letting its voters change thier vote at any time. So, if your situation changes, it will allow you to change your vote. Family and friends are more than invited!!

Initial plans:
Where: Las Vegas, NV - USA
When: Friday-Sunday - July 24, 25, 26, 2009 (over a year from now. Start saving your beer cans!)
Possible bands playing: Ultimatum, Avenger of Blood, Troglodyte Dawn, your band (?)

I voted 75%.

I've only been to that part of the country once and that was on an overnight business trip so I didn't get to see anything.

The biggest obstacle for me would be figuring out what to do with my cats. If I'm only gone those three days, it's not a big deal. But if I'm going to that part of the US, I'd also like to check out Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, the Grand Canyon, and other stuff.

Basically, I'd need to work out the logistics but I'm pretty sure I'd try to make it.

And that's even though you're inviting those CMR folks.

I voted 75%, but it's probably closer to 85-90. So long as I have airline miles to burn, I can probably save up a few hundred to burn on CDs, hotel money, and food stuffs.

Yeah, getting to and from, accomadations, chow, - basically everything is as cheap as it gets. That is why we chose Vegas. Unless you are a compulsive gambler, less than $1000 can get anybody from anywhere. I wholly expect that people will be crashing on other peoples floors, sneaking chicken out of the buffets, etc. It really comes down to if you want to be there or not. The rest can be worked out. That is not a pressure "sell", it is just the truth. I traveled the world for 15 years, poor as hell. But I got to see things and meet people that no one else I know could. But that is important to me, and might not be for everyone.

Fortunately for me, $$$ is not the issue.

Unfortunately, the cats are. I will NOT board my cats again. The last time was really traumatizing for them.

And I'm a little like RP; if I'm going to that part of the country, I want to scope out more of it.

Where you live, TOHO? I have a lady that comes over once a day, feeds the cats, spends at least 30 minutes with them - and it only costs $8 a day. I would think there are plenty of services like that around.
