Yeah...AC/DC, Junkyard, Faster Pu$$ycat...those kind of vocals can definitely be an acquired taste.

Sounding good! To me the singer fits in exactly with the genre of music youre doing. A bit of Bon Scott in there with some other influences. Me likey!

Man, I'm loving this!! The funny thing is that I'm not a fan of the genre in general, but this absolutly smokes. I think you'll even surpass the debut!

Holy crap, at least have the integrity to call yourselves an AC/DC tribute!

That surprises me a bit, since this is far more a rip-off project than David Benson! lol!

Wow, no one here is going to admit this is a total rip off of AC/DC? From the pics, riffs and even the bloody vocal melodies! affraid

Yes, they sound majorly influenced by AC/DC. I don't think that Cliffy has ever denied that. I still like it. I like X-Sinner, Junkyard, Dirty Looks and Krokus too. :metal:

Candlemass...we have not ripped off any vocal melodies...at least not intentionally. Our entire vision for this record was this:

If Bon Scott rose from the Dead, got saved and joined our band, what would the lyrics and melodies he'd write for us be?

That was the vision, but we ended up throwin' a few more things in the proverbial pot as well...one of the songs we posted is called Through With You...it has enormous Joan Jett influence, another from the album (though not posted) is a Cinderella/Hanoi Rocks-ish ballad and still another (also not posted) sounds like Bon Scott singin' for The Cramps.

There are many bands in and out of Christian music that base their sound on other bands. Ever hear of Rhino Bucket? Ever hear of Saint? Ever hear of Airbourne?

If people complain about this David Benson fellow then it would only be for one of several reasons:

1. The view that he doesn't do a good enough interpretation of Ozzy.
2. The view that Imitating Ozzy isn't as cool as imitating other bands.
3. The view that Benson's songs aren't good enough.

Also...I'm nowhere near the guitarist that Angus Young is...I'm much more brutish...comes from all my Johnny Ramone guitar days.

We wrote the best songs that we could, keeping a firm eye on the early days of AC/DC...we have no interest in denying that.

Don't get so hung up on it...I mean...it's just music...it's perfectly fine to not like what we do.

later...Cliffy

The guitar tones on "Power Surge" are an exact copy of an AC/DC riff, some of the vocal melodies are very close to their songs as well. So by your own admission this is an AC/DC tribute, or a parody band. Don't kid anyone into thinking this is an original recording project, I could easily do the same thing w/The Doors tribute I'm in. There was a thread a while back where somone was refuting the espousal that many christian rock bands were nothing more than copy cats of secular artists, this re-enforces those espousals. It's cool, do whatever you want, I'm sure there's a market for it. There is always going to be a number of christians who want their favorite artists "sanctified" for christian consumption. I'm all for wearing your influences on your sleeve, but you guys are fully dressed in them!

I'll give you this much, christian bands aren't the only ones who have done this. Kingdom Come, Trouble, Pentagram, Stone Temple Pilots are just a few that come to mind.

Dude...are you kidding me? You're giving us crap for making sure our guitar TONES are like AC/DC? haha...awesome...for the record, when I brought Power Surge to the band, our other guitarist, Matthew, was concerned that the prechorus was too close to Dirty Deeds, but then we actually compared it and we knew we were cool.

Most of Worldshaker sounds like it was actually written by mid-70's period AC/DC...not copied, but actually written by them. In my book, that's an accomplishment. We went with a more 80's style production.

In rock-n-roll...all songs have vocal melodies, chord structures or guitar tones that are "close" to something else. It's the nature of rock-n-roll. We didn't steal anything.

Again, I direct you to our vision for this record...what would it sound like if Bon Scott raised from the dead, got saved and joined our band?

What's your problem, candlemass? You're stuck doing your The Doors cover thing, and can't appreciate other people writing their own material, influenced by other bands? At least they are releasing stellar material!!

Bring it on, Cliffy! :metal:

We are a Doors tribute band, that's what we are. Again, we could come up w/some lyrics using cut and paste song structures from various Doors songs and release "stellar material" as well. In fact, it would be far superior than theirs, since the band we pay homage to blows The Doors off the one's they're riping off!

I know your "vision" for the band, I find it distasteful, as I do Apologetix. They are a joke, it's funny but it get's old fast. Very easy to do parody, not much creativity goes into it.

Aaah...you work to goad me without knowing that I don't fall for that kinda stuff.

Cut me down, cut my work down, say that all these songs are is just cut and pasting AC/DC songs all ya like...fine by me.

What is very clear is your penchant for dishonest conversation tactics in a sorely misguided effort to "win an argument"...an argument which no one, other than yourself, wishes to have.

You lose all credibility with that statement above. Who are we to tell anyone what to do with there career, and who are we to judge them? Who cares if riffs sound like others and vocal melodies sound like others? It happens on every single record put out. Thats what influences do to bands. People wear them on there sleeves and there is nothing wrong with that.

Cliffy stated he wanted it to sound like Ac/Dc and it worked out well. What you do Candle is pay homage to the Doors by mimicing the Doors by playing there songs. What Cliffy is doing is paying tribute to Ac/Dc by mimicing there sound, but writing there own material around that.
