Agreed, that was the best artwork & logo design theyve ever had.
Outside of just flat out not caring for them though, Im with mc on their old covers for the most part too.
MOP was probably the best looking, but all in all, I dont think any of them were out and out spectacular.

| That was pretty deep, Eyesore. I kind of agree though. I've heard people say everything after Master of Puppets sucked, but I'm pretty sure they've never even heard most of it and are just following the crowd.

Yeah, I agree that none of the Metallica album covers were really all that. The t-shirt designs from Pushead were always the best artwork under the Metallica logo. They should have used them to design their anal bum covers.

I love both, but like the original better. The solo in the original is one of my favorite Metallica solos. With that said, I hope the music is different in this one. The first two were similar, I don't know how they could pen another as similar as those without it being stale.
That said, maybe it just follows a similar lyrical theme and won't even be mellow. Could be the heaviest song on the album.

The last Metallica album I was really "into" was ...And Justice For All, it was also my least favorite up to that point. I remember walking into my local record store in 1983 when Kill 'Em All came out and buying the album just for the cover art. To this day my favorite album is Ride The Lighting, there was an energy to those first couple records that they never quite equaled. Master of Puppets was definitely a great album, but there was a spark to their music that started to get lost around that period.
All I can say about Death Magnetic is that I'll give it a listen when it comes out...but it's been 20 years since Metallica released anything that inspired me...let's just say I'm not exactly holding my breath for the new album. |

Really? I imagine if even one radio station played a song it would have been recorded somehow and would be all over the net by now. I don't see mention of any full song being played anywhere.
