| METALLICA has revealed the title of its new album — "Death Magnetic" — by posting the finalized/complete version (see below) of the image that originally appeared on the band's official web site on Tuesday (June 10) under the headline "???." The CD is due out in September.
A short video clip revealing the new album title and featuring an audio sample of a brand new song can be viewed below.
Just one day after several UK web sites posted early reviews of six new METALLICA songs that were previewed for them in London in early June, the reports were all taken down, reportedly at the request of the band's management. METALLICA has since issued a statement blaming a management "error" for the move and has apparently asked for the reviews to be re-posted.
METALLICA performed a "secret" show Thursday night (June 12) at The Basement in Nashville, Tennessee in front of an estimated 175 people. The band played Tennessee's Bonnaroo festival Friday (June 13) and is scheduled to perform at the one-day Ozzfest in Dallas on August 9, with a full North American tour in the works for the fall.

Sounds promising - they are also using the old logo. My predicition: It will be the best thing they have done since the black album, but won't match the greatness of the first 4 studio albums. |

I think this is safe to assume, and probably dead on. I actually like the album name. It's got a nice ring to it.

I kind of dig that riff. Wish they played more of it, though. Sounds kind of like something a prog-metal band would do. But I could hear it going right into some nu-metal style riffs. We'll see.
All things are point to something good. Unless you're Temple of Blood, of course.

Is it just me, or does that riff remind you of something of the Justice album? I don't know, the whole melody and mood of it, reminds of songs like "Frayed ends of Sanity"
"Death Magnetic" ..it sounds cool, but just not something Metallica would release..they have always been more..shall I say, "artistic" than than other Thrash bands......well, I am excited, anyhow |

| Doesn't sound like something you'd hear of Justice to me. Sounds more like a natural progression from the black album, which I think it probably will be. This band isn't touching the first four albums' styles ever again—at least for longer than brief moments.

| The title is cool, but I hope that's not the album cover. Is it? I was hoping for one of their cool old-school covers with the logo on top and some awesome painting below.

| Death Magnetic??? Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with the majority of views here. That's a pretty bad name. I would have preferred Vulturus (one of the rumored names).
All I can say is, this better make up for St. Anger. I'm personally hoping for a Master Of Puppets/...And Justice For All-type sound. |

| The chances of this being good are slim to none.
Sounded like some re-heated 3rd rate hard rock riffs in the clips they had on that sneak peak video.

Not a chance. St. Anger was complete crap, a band trying desperately to find balance within chaos. Despite what everyone says about the band, St. Anger was a clear example of a band not with it at all. Every other album, no matter the style, whether you like it or not, had good songs. Many great songs as well. St. Anger maybe had five good moments—very brief moments—that could be considered okay, at best. St. Anger, thankfully, was a once in a lifetime deal, I think.
What's going to suck about this one is fan reaction. There are people here that say they've hated everything the band has done for 20 years now. But we're going to have to sift through their hate when this album drops. Why? Why even bother listening to it? They know that no matter if this is a thrash classic or a rapcore album, they're going to say it sucks.
