| | I dont listen to much Primus because i find the music to be intolerable, but the lyrics alone are hilarious. |

That has always been my favorite thing about Primus, Les Claypool has a very twisted sense of humor and I like that (maybe because mine can be pretty twisted at times too). _________________

| I can't believe I missed this thread. Primus is one heckuva band with so much hilarious tunes as well as some rather dark ones. As a bass player, Les Claypool ranks somewhere close to the top in my book. He's probably the main reason that got me to play slap bass. Rock on! _________________ What part of "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" don't you understand?

| Listened to Pork Soda last night and it is definatly one of the best non-metal albums of the early 90s IMO. I haven't heard much before it but I have heard many albums after it and they just don't equal to it (Tales From The Punchbowl, The Brown Album, and Antipop). I thought of a good way to describe that album and that is Alternative Doom. Dark and sludgy alternative music peppered with Claypool's "unusual" sense of humor. My favorite track is definatly The 'Ol Diamondback Sturgeon followed by Pork Soda, My Name Is Mud, Bob, Mr. Krinkle, and The Air Is Getting Slippery.
My favorite aspect of Primus is the music videos:
Mr. Krinkle (the best part of this one is the parade of circusl freaks in the background):

Winnona's Big Brown Beaver (my second favorite-love the guitar solo):

A cover of The Devil Wen't Down To Georgia (my favortie of Primus's videos):

| Primus made onto VH1's 100 greatest hard rock artist list at number #97, a vh1 special that aired several years ago, Primusis a cool band that like just every band that has been discussed on this forms needs to be experinced live. Les Claypool, generation x's answer to Frank Zappa, satrical lyrics, insane musician, and a band that when there music is playing it is almost impossiable to stay in a bad mood. After comparing them to Zappa I of course do not think they sound anything like Zappa or anyone else at all, they occupy a unique place in the musical world and it is still only a table of one. |

| I've been spinning Primus a lot lately. They Can't All Be Zingers is a great place to start! Every song on that one is a winner. I love Les Claypool's style. Totally unique and complex. I don't mind his vocals at all.
As far as Tool goes... They only put out two good albums IMO. Aenima and Lateralus. The rest = I don't think you can really compare Les's vocals to anyone else because he's not trying to be a good vocalist. Mainard from Tool is a good vocalist, but nowhere near being my fave.
So in the end, Primus ROCKS!! _________________

Twas' sarcasm, my good man. Primus totally sucks. After all, I do have a picture of Les Claypool with 'God' written on it above my bed. |
