| It seems some people are offended by everything. Back in the 50s, people got offended by the use of the words "fart" and "pregnant".
I am very hard to offend and can stomach almost anything. However, I do consider child pornography offensive, although I'm sure 99% of all people do.
A lot of the fundamentalist Christian "Won't somebody please think of the children?" types are hilarious. They find things in G/PG rated movies nowadays to be extremely offensive, yet they consider themselves "devout Christians" (the Bible is one of the most violent books ever written). One thing I find amazingly strange is that some channels won't allow tits to be shown at any time (not even at 2 AM), but have no problem with showing extreme violence at 2 PM. |

| This is really a tough question for me to answer. I am offended by anything which I consider sinful. I think maybe what you might be driving at however, at least from my perspective is, do I go off half cocked with my nose out of joint at offensive stuff? To that I would have to answer, very little shocks me. I feel that our human nature is totally depraved and capable of just about anything. I think that I have pretty tough skin, if you want to call me names. Go ahead. No big deal. I think most folks that aren't Christians are going to be offended by Christians at some point in their life. (Example: If I went down to your neighborhood Walmart and started preaching the gospel, I would probably get punched in the nose by someone) I think most folks who aren't Christians are offended by the Bible. Why do I say this? Because the Bible points out our sin, and no one likes to have their sin pointed out to them. Another point about being offensive. This directed at Christians. I also feel that as Christians, if we are not offensive to the world, then there is probably something wrong with our walk. The book of 1 John speaks volumes about this. Christians should be living in the exact opposite of the world system. Exact opposites repel each other. Light repels darkness. In perfect light, there is no darkness. We lie, if we say that we are Christians and belong to God, but live in spiritual darkness. We have the Spririt of God living inside of us, if the world hated Jesus Christ, then we should not be surprised if we are hated also. What is our life like? What kind of fruit are we bearing, what kind of tree have we planted? If we follow the desires of our sinful nature the results will be sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, envy, drunkeness, wild parties, and anyone living that sort of life will not enter the God's kingdom. If on the other hand the Holy Spirit controls our lives the fruit we bear will be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we belong to Jesus Christ we will have taken the passions and desires of our sinful nature to cross and crucified them there. Is it worth it to be a Christian? You bet. Honestly, it's painful being seperated from God. Was (is) sin fun. Yeah, I would say so. But only for a short time. How did your last hangover feel? How did that jail cell feel the last time you were arrested? How does it feel to be broke and unable to pay your bills because you squandered your money on booze or drugs, or prostitutes? How does that std feel that you picked up the last time you had a night on the town? or maybe lets not be so extreme, how does it feel to have said the wrong thing to someone you love, and they got angry and you fought over it? How does it feel to be picked on all the time? How does it feel to be trapped with feelings of "nobody loves me?", or maybe you wonder what is going to happen to me after I die? Can I really know for sure? Do you feel guilty about anything? Jesus Christ sets you free from all of the above. Am I easily offended? I hate sin. But I care about sinners, which I am certainly more guilty of than a lot of people I know. If you have only committed one sin in your entire life, then you need Jesus. |

| It's VERY hard to offend me, which is the reason why it's VERY easy for me to offend people. Haha. With that said, if someone gets offended by something I say, I hardly ever feel bad. I think 99% of what someone gets offended by is their problem, not mine. Obviously certain things go over the line, and if I ever cross that line I apologize, but generally taking offense to something is simply a waste of time. _________________ "Happy people have no stories." —Therapy?

| I dont get offended by much.Seems like alot of people get bent out of shape over trivial things.Life is too short to worry about things like that.I try to treat others the way I want to be treated. I guess some people will gag on the gnat and swallow the camel:) |

| I guess I must be pretty thick skinned because it takes a LOT to offend me. I tend to laugh things off like "Wow, that's ridiculous" rather than get all bent out of shape about stuff. It helps keep my blood pressure down. |

| I understand what you are saying Bgast. As a Christian, we are offended by things we see as opposing our beliefs or our Savior. However, getting offened and getting all bent out of shape are not the same thing. I think anyone is going to get offended if something is said opposing what they hold dear to them. If I were to come here and insult someone's mom, they would get offended by that. Doesn't mean they are going to start screaming and raving about it. They might just blow it off, but at the same time, it's sure to offend them. Same holds true things that would oppose your faith in God.
Any believer in Jesus Christ should be like him and detest sin. That being said, sin is an offense. Personally, I think we should be more offended when we commit sin ourselves than when we see others doing it. _________________

| I'm not offended by much on a personal level. I get offended when people tout Lies/sin as truth... That doesn't mean I get into a shouting match or anything, but it does cause me to wonder what happened to a belief in scripture or just 'common sense'.... to quote Tony Campolo (sort of but I will probably get edited and if you don't know who he is christian prof at eastern college)..."As believers you will be more upset that I said the term bullshit than the fact that 20,000 africans starved to death today..." that was taken from a film series he made. |

That sums me up as well. I am rarely offended, though there are injustices that anger me, but that is not the same thing. I think people confuse the two.

well said Ult. for a minute there I thought this was going to turn into a christian-bashing thread. what Ult said pretty much sums it up, alot of non-christians dont understand what being "offended" by sin means. |

| I'm not easily offended, but I also am sometimes. It often depends on my temperment. More often then not I'll ofend someone before I get offended. _________________
