First place is five times as meaningful as fifth? I really don't like the setup of the voting. Being in anyone's top five means the album is great and the differences in quality between the top five are almost certainly going to be tiny. But now pretty much all first place votes rank in the final list on those five points alone, while the 3rd to 5th place votes probably won't have a major effect in deciding the best album.

I think it should be one point per nomination. Only use rankings as a tie-breaker. Or something like 105 points for first place, 104 for second, 103 for third etc.

1. Iron Maiden: Brave New World
It is hard to say why I prefer this over the follow up records, maybe it is just nostalgia.

2. Blind Guardian: A Night At the Opera
They out did themselves here. This is even more amazing than "Nightfall In Middle-Earth

3. Megadeth: The System Has Failed
I was blown away with this. Again, the follow ups got better and better, but this had the biggest impact on me personally.

4. Symphony X: The Odyssey
I was experimenting when I picked up this one. It is my favorite Symphony X album.

5. Ultimatum: Into the Pit
Seriously though, I dig this album.
