According to AllMusic.com, Gonna Get Close to You was originally written & performed by a woman named Lisa Dal Bello from her 1984 album Whomanfoursays. Other than being a Canuck, it should be noted that the guitar on that album was performed by Mick Ronson, whom some might recognize as David Bowie's guitarist from his "Spiders from Mars" days. After that, she didn't do much except writing the lyrics for Nena's 80's hit 99 Red Balloons.

It beats the living hell outta the original Halford version...I don't like his falsetto screams, I really don't see why Judas fans didn't like Timmy Very Happy

. He and Halford both go falsetto like hell (in my opinion)

I don't know if I prefer it over the original, but I just heard Benedictum's cover of Accept's classic BALLS TO THE WALL and was surprised at how good it was. Though I gotta admit, it sounds a little weird hearing a female vocalist singing that particular tune. Shocked

I heard Solitude Aeturnus version of "Hallowed Be Thy Name" today, and it DID NOT blow away the original. Not even close!

Metallica's rendition of the notorious "So What" by the Anti-Nowhere League is one of my favorites. Though I love the original too, so I'm not quite sure if Metallica's tops it...but it's damned close.

I like Kreator's cover of "Gangland". But, I don't think it's as good as the original song although it's close. Tygers Of Pan Tang might possibly be THE most forgotten band of NWOBHM.
