Hmmmm, I own A LOT of them. Have not idea how many, but I'm sure it's several hundred of them. I own about 30-40 Aerosmith bootlegs alone.

Less than actual LIVE concerts I've been to, but more than bands I've actually seen live.

Very few. I generally don't like live albums; especially if I already own the band's catalogue. Basically it's like paying more $$$ to hear people cheering in the background. Some I do have:

Therion - Live In Midgard
Sonia Dada - Lay Down And Love It Live
The Tubes - What Do You Want From Live
Beth Hart - Live At Paradiso

Probably one or two others but I know it's less than a dozen total.

I agree, there's a lot a bands that sound much better on their live albums than their studios. Although It's always debatable just how 'Live' an official live album really is.

Nope. Most live albums to me sound just like the studio versions except for extended solos and the ever-present "aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh" of the crowd. Snore! Give me the studio version almost every time.

And one more thing about live albums. If you're gonna release one, make it an uninterrupted concert. I also have the Pink Cream 69 live album and that thing fades in and out between tracks. WTF??? If I buy a live album, one of the things I want to hear is the stage banter between the artist and the audience!

Have over 50 bootlegs on vinyl of Zep and Floyd, lots of live blues on various format, a dozen instant live discs of The Allman Brothers Band, hundreds of Grateful Dead shows from Dick's Pick's, tapes and official releases. I have the usual 70's live albums and a few 80's metal bands releases.

A few dozen. I think live albums are great because they add a new dimension to the music in that they give the songs a heavier, crunchier feel and I also like to hear how they do a song a bit different or have a different lead in. Very Happy

I've come around on live albums in the last few years. Of course this has only added way too much to the "need to get" file. I probably have a few dozen as well. And as of yet I haven't really gone for many bootlegs. Hoping that'll change someday.
