Why wouldn't you buy anything from Robert Jordan? He is a fantastic author and the Wheel of Time series is a great fantasy epic. RIP Robert Jordan. |
Well, I should have said not to buy the Wheel Of Time series. It may be great, but it's unfinished. Wouldn't it suck to read 11 books and never get any closure? |

Ah, I gotcha ya. I misunderstood at first, but yeah that would suck, because those books are freakin' long. Someone, like his kid(s) or something like that will finish the series, like Tolkien's son just released a book the his dad started and he finished. |

I'm sure that series is neat-o but you gotta question his motives. Heck, he's going to milk the storyline for 2 generations? I guess more power to him (or as much power as you can have when you're dead) if it works. |

I don't think he planned on dying. Haha. And apparently book 12 was going to pull in everything and sort of wrap up all the storylines. It wasn't said that it would be the final book, but it would be the "end of an era," so to speak. I guess he wanted to do some prequels after, some one-off books with some main characters, and then a history of the whole world. It's unfortunate. |

| I'm going to make a recommendation here, one I think you all should heed. Read this book: Don't read the description of the book. Just buy it and read it. It's one of the most amazing books I've ever read. My friend tried to get me to read this book for years, and the premise just sounded so dreadfully boring, so I always told her no. Finally I decided to give it a shot. I was hooked immediately. The book is brilliant. The synopsis does it no justice, it doesn't even come close. The book is really long, over 1,000 pages, depending on whether it's hardcover or softcover, but don't let it scare you. I have gotten no less than 10 people to read this book and each one has scoffed at the premise of the book, not wanting to read it because they're sure it'll be boring, but once they start it, they don't stop. All have declared it one of the best books they've ever read. The book is that good. |

Haha. Seriously, that's just a basic premise. Amazon.com has a more in-depth one, which is far more in-depth than the one on the back of the book jacket. The book actually spans four generations, but it doesn't skip a beat. It's one of those books that you simply don't want to end. |

| I seriously am sold. I love stories set in ancient time...Middle/Dark ages are my favorites (Middle Earth type for fantasy). I love historical fiction. Let me recommend one to the board that had a similar affect on me.... It follows an Aztec boy from childhood to old age in a time right before Cortez comes and that's all that needs to be said... ......this was one of those books that made me forsake all other human endeavor. I couldn't put it down! |

| Stormspell- I'm excited as well to know HBO picked it up. "Fire and Ice" would never get a proper treatment in even 2-3 movies. It's just too involved. But a couple dozen 1 hour shows or a series a la Deadwood, Sopranos, ect...would do the trick....
Yeah, I don't think ****** is dead, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm just worried the very corpulent Martin will have a heart attack before he's finished (or that I die!).
Eyesore - I saw that Jennings has others, I've just not gotten to them yet. I'm worried -probably foolishly - that anything else will not live up to Aztec.
Concerning Crichton - I love his stuff and I think I've read Timeline...I usually read anything (and enjoy) he puts out.... |
