| Spec said it all, really. OBJECTION OVERRULED smokes! Back in the early pre-Internet 1990s, news about "true" metal bands was hard to come by in the Land of Grunge, so I wasn't even aware that Accept had gotten back together till I stumbled across a CD single of the track "I Don't Wanna Be Like You" at the 1994 KISS Expo in New Jersey. I was like "Huh? Accept is back? This is new? Holy crap!" I didn't pick up the single (because by the time I found it I was out of $$) but I resolved to keep an eye out for the album. It took a while but the album eventually found its way to U.S. shores on the then-new CMC International label, who were building up a pretty decent roster of former major-label bands that were now considered "has-beens" in the U.S., like Warrant, Kix, Overkill, and W.A.S.P. I think OBJECTION OVERRULED was the first album I ever bought from that label. (Hail CMC! I miss them...) As for the album itself, I had been trying to keep up with Udo's solo releases during Accept's hiatus and enjoyed what I heard from that camp, but still, there is nothing like the genuine article. "Sick, Dirty and Mean," "Protectors of Terror," "Slaves to Metal" and "Bulletproof" are my faves off of this one but honestly there isn't a song on here that I don't dig to some extent. Nothin' fancy or revolutionary here, just good ole fashioned crunchy Accept style heavy metal. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | Excellent album, and like FF stated nothing fancy good ole fashion Accept style metal. Love every song on this release favorite song maybe the instrumental 'Just By My Own' and the lyrics to the song 'Donation' always make me laugh. A great album and one of the best comeback albums in metal. |

| This thread prompted me to dust off my OBJECTION OVERRULED disc for the first time in awhile today and yep, it still smokes. I also get some chuckles from the cryptic, almost-English dedication on the back cover: "This record is dedicated to each and everyone who has given the band no rest for good." Uhhh... yeah, OK. You're welcome...I think. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | DEATH ROW (1994)
1. DEATH ROW 2. SODOM AND GOMORRAH 3. THE BEAST INSIDE 4. DEAD ON 5. GUNS 'R' US 6. LIKE A LOADED GUN 7. WHAT ELSE 8. STONE EVIL 9. BAD HABITS DIE HARD 10. PREJUDICE 11. BAD RELIGION 12. GENERATION CLASH II 13. WRITING ON THE WALL 14. DRIFTING APART (INSTRUMENTAL) 15. POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE (INSTRUMENTAL)
"Death Row" really should have been titled "Death Knell", because the end of Accept was near once again. Those of us that loved Objection Overruled were excited to hear another great slab of Accept metal in the dreary metal atmosphere of the mid 90's. I was disappointed. That's not to say that this is a bad album per se, it just isn't anything up to par with Accept's older material. The riffs sound very samey and uninspired, almost like Wolf wrote the whole album in one sitting. Udo of course, is amazing, but hell it's Udo, when isn't he amazing? The songs can be a tad overdone. For example, "Sodom & Gommorah". That song clocks in at 6:28. It should have been about 3:28. Wolf just wanks out on the guitar for no reason in the middle section. He has so much time to waste that he starts playing circus music as a solo. Wow. That's terrible. There are a few good songs on here. The title track is heavy and in your face. I also like The Beast Inside, Like A Loaded Gun, and Bad Religion. The rest sounds thrown together to me. Perhaps they should have taken a little break between "Objection" and this album. Maybe that would have made this a more enjoyable listen. |

| After the awesome OBJECTION OVERRULED, I had high hopes for DEATH ROW. Once I heard it....ehhhh... me no likee so much. The main problem I have with it was that by this time Accept had become a one-guitar band. Technically they were already a one guitar band on OBJECTION OVERRULED but for that album, Wolf Hoffman recorded two guitar tracks (rhythm and lead), so it still had that classic Accept twin-guitar attack. On DEATH ROW it seems like he didn't want to be bothered going to all that trouble again so the guitars, while still heavy, have the same staccato sound to them. I'd wager that ol' Wolf was listening to a lot of Pantera at this time and was trying to approximate their "Groove." There are a couple of semi-decent tracks on DEATH ROW, as Spec said (I kinda sorta dig "Stone Evil," "Like A Loaded Gun" and "The Beast Inside") but even those sound like unfinished demos left over from the OBJECTION OVERRULED sessions to me. And whose bright idea was it to revisit "Generation Clash?" Ugh. I got DEATH ROW on cassette from Columbia House music club as a new release. They sent me a defective copy which got eaten by my car stereo on the first play, so I was allowed to upgrade to a CD copy after an angry phone call to their customer service center. When the CD finally arrived and I gave it a proper listen, I wondered why I even bothered. I almost saw Accept when they briefly toured the U.S. for this album (on the same bill as... L.A. Guns, of all creatures!), but unfortunately the day of the show (at the Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ) we had a pretty major snowstorm here in Jersey. My brother and I called the club to find out if the show was still on; we were told that it was, but that club was about a 90 minute drive from where we lived and after much consideration we opted to pass, not wanting to risk driving all that way on snow covered roads. To the best of my knowledge that was the last time they set foot on U.S. soil though, so I kinda regret that decision nowadays even though I know it was the right one at the time. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | I was disappointed when this album was first released and still not a favorite from Accept. The songs sound like they were not completed and the bare bones production does not do the album any favors.
The riffs and songs as Spec points out seem uninspired, a huge comedown after releasing a great comeback album. I had not thought of the album being influenced by Pantera, and I guess that makes sense, maybe Accept felt they had to modernized their sound to compete and I have to agree with FF, maybe the main problem is that Wolf Hoffman being the one and only guitartist. The sound is not as full or as powerful |

| Does anyone have this compilation... ...and could you shed a little light on it. I found this disc in a video store that was going out of business. I think I only paid a buck or 2 for it. I didn't own much Accept, so I thought this would be a good grab. Is it "band authorized" or just something the record company put out? I hesitate to call it a "Greatest Hits" because thier greatest hit 'Balls to the Wall' does not appear on it. | 1. | Fast As A Shark | | | 2. | I'm A Rebel | | | 3. | Restless And Wild | | | 4. | Lady Love | | | 5. | The King | | | 6. | Starlight | | | 7. | China Lady | | | 8. | Save Us | | | 9. | Down And Out | | | 10. | No Time To Lose | | | 11. | I Wanna Be No Hero | | | 12. | Free Me Now | | | 13. | Do It | | | 14. | Can't Stand The Night | | | 15. | Breaker | | | 16. | Son Of A smurfette | | | 17. | Hell Driver | | | 18. | Burning | | | 19. | Thunder and Lightning |

| I've seen that compilation album in stores over the years but never picked it up, MG. If I had to take a wild stab I'd say it was probably a record label cash-in (of which there are several in Accept land. I used to have one which had the gall to put a photo of the David Reece/EAT THE HEAT lineup of the band on the cover, even though the track listing did not include any songs from that particular album... haha!) Is it just me or does that cover art resemble Autograph's "Sign In Please" just a little too much? _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | I dont' have this compilation, but it is indeed a record company cash grab. The band had nothing to do with this release, from what I have read. ...and yes, it does resemble Autograph's "Sign In Please". _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| PREDATOR (1996)
1. HARD ATTACK 2. CROSSROADS 3. MAKING ME SCREAM 4. DIGGIN' IN THE DIRT 5. LAY IT DOWN 6. IT AIN'T OVER YET 7. PREDATOR 8. CRUCIFIED 9. TAKE OUT THE CRIME 10. DON'T GIVE A DAMN 11. RUN THROUGH THE NIGHT 12. PRIMITIVE By the time Accept's "Predator" album came along, the band had already ran out of steam. This album is different from anything else they did before, starting out with a Krokus-esque AC/DC type song. After that track the album goes off in a million different directions, including warring vocals between Udo and Peter Baltes. To be honest, I've never made it all the way through this album. I couldn't even do it for this thread. I apologize for that, but this is a hard album to listen to, IMO. |

| Yea, I'm with ya on this one Spec. I bought this CD for five bucks at a record/CD swap meet shortly after its release, and that was about $4.99 too much IMO. Listened to it once or twice and sold it off to my friendly neighborhood used-CD store, where I assume it is probably still collecting dust. Not a good way for a great band to go out. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | It is definitley not a great way to wind up a career, I don't hate the album as much as Spec and FF do, but maybe is because I don't remember any of the songs off the album once the CD stops spinning. Very disappointing. |

| Accept - All Areas-Worldwide (CMC International) 1998 Accept - The Final Chapter (GUN) 1998 DISC ONE 1. "Starlight" (5:23) 2. "London Leatherboys" (4:43) 3. "I Don't Wanna Be Like You" (4:29) 4. "Breaker" (4:49) 5. "Slaves to Metal" (5:15) 6. "Princess of the Dawn" (10:46) 7. "Restless and Wild" (2:47) 8. "Son of a Bitch" (3:27) 9. "This One's for You" (4:09) 10. "Bulletproof" (6:18) 11. "Too High to Get It Right" (5:44) DISC TWO 12. "Metal Heart" (6:20) 13. "Fast as a Shark" (3:51) 14. "Balls to the Wall" (11:11) 15. "What Else" (5:28) 16. "Sodom & Gomorra" (6:40) 17. "Beast Inside" (6:26) 18. "Bad Habits Die Hard" (4:53) 19. "Stone Evil" (4:33) 20. "Death Row" (6:03) "The Final Chapter" was recorded during the band's final tour. It was designed as Accept's farewell album, which is a respectable way to depart. All songs are well executed and have that live energy that makes live discs so important. A great way to go out and an excellent testament to one of the heaviest German bands of the 1980s. Nice to hear some of those later day Accept tunes live as well. "Slaves to Metal", "I Don't Wanna Be Like You" and "Death Row" all fitting in nicely with their classic catalog. Accept pulled out a couple early classics for this CD as well. Starting off with "Starlight" was a cool. For years I was in search for a copy of "All Areas-Worldwide", which was only released in Europe. I had assumed that it was a different recording than "Final Chapter". Unfortunately it's the exact same recording with slightly nicer insert. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| A live farewell from veteran German metal band, this live recording was rawer than the previous live album. and contains a few surprise early cuts such as 'Starlight' and 'Son of a B!tch'. Wolf Hoffman is lone guitarist and does an excellent job. Peter Baltes and Stefan Kaufman do an excellent job in filling in the sound, that is almost unnoticeable that their is not another guitar is missing. Udo sounds more powerful than the studio versions and also included are lot of songs from both 'Objection Overruled' and 'Death Row' , but no songs from 'Predator' which is very telling in what the band itself must have thought of the material. Nice bookend to a long career but apparently the story does not end since the band will be releasing a new studio album next year with Udo. Excellent job on the thread Spec. |
