| I actually like Predator. Maybe it's because it's my only Accept album aside from Balls to the Wall.
It's still a good listen. Not a great album by any means, but it's sort of mean and nasty, and Run Through the Night has a brilliant main riff. It has to be my favourite Accept song.
"I run through the night, I can't handle my fears I run through the night, cannot hide the tears"
Superb!
There's like four or five other real nice tracks: the opener Hard Attack and Digging in the Dirt especially come to mind. Crossroads is an interesting piece, too. |

| Does anybody know the Accept, Restless and Wild b/w Fast as a Shark 12 " single 1984 (UK) (Heavy Metal records) ? I am curious about this rare import single I used to see on sale. Are the mixes different? I can't find any specific info on it, besides remembering it for sale. |

I won't spend alot of time reviewing this album because I'm pretty convinced of my opinion of it. Accept really lost their way in 1989 and decided to switch gears and make a REALLY commercial metal album. Thank goodness UDO left because this album would be even worse with him on it...and that's not a dig on UDO by any means. With the new direction, the band needed a new frontman. Enter David Reece from American band Bangalore Choir. Ugh. I think David Reece gets a bad rap for this album, but his performance is stellar. In fact, the whole band plays well, but there is nothing original on this album. This album sounds very forced to me. The power and emotion that filled the band's earlier albums is replaced with a souless, overproduced sound that has nothing unique to offer to the listener. In fact, I can't even think of a song that I like enough to name. Nothing that makes me want to listen to it more than once. After the CD stops spinning, I don't remember what I was listening to for the last 40 minutes. UGH. This album is typical second or third tier American commercial metal. It sounds like the band is TRYING to sound heavy. Accept never had to do that in the past, they were naturally heavy. The signature guitar sound of Wolf Hoffman is gone and replaced with a cookie cutter generic sound. To top it off, the drums sound VERY mechanical. Almost like a drum machine. UGH.
If the album wasn't bad enough, the commercial metal boat had already sailed away by the time Accept wanted to board. This may have worked 2 years earlier, but by the time 1989 rolled around, this kind of metal was kind of old hat in the U.S. Possibly the band were taking a page from the playbook of fellow German band, Victory, by deciding to dilute their sound to appeal to a wider audience. Victory did it well, Accept....not so much. Just listen to Victory's "Culture Killed The Native" and you'll hear how this type of metal is supposed to sound. Unless you are an Accept completist, I would definitely steer clear of "Eat The Heat". UGH. |
I love this album but however it should not of been under the Accept label. check this out David Reese singing Balls to the Wall awesomely bad |

| Since the author of this thread has gone all guest-ified on us, I'm taking the liberty of updating it.... Accept's newest album, BLOOD OF THE NATIONS, currently stands as the year's most pleasant surprise for me, and I'm sure for a lot of other fans as well. Who could have expected this band to come back from a decade-plus hiatus from recording, with a new singer no less, and yet sound so damn GOOD? I sure didn't. In the Spring of 2009 the rumblings of an Accept reunion began. Guitarist Wolf Hoffman and bassist Peter Baltes, who both apparently live in the U.S. nowadays, had been getting together for some jam sessions and came up with some song ideas that they thought could work as a new Accept album. Former guitarist Herman Frank was quickly recruited back into the fold, as was drummer Stefan Schwarzman. An offer was then extended to Udo Dirkschneider to rejoin the band, but he declined, so the search was on for a new vocalist. Literally out of nowhere came former T.T. Quick vocalist Mark Tornillo, who was invited to come to one of Hoffman/Baltes' jam sessions through a mutual friend. To hear Hoffman tell it, he and Peter knew after 5 minutes that Mark was the perfect replacement. Two YouTube clips from those jam sessions with Tornillo (performing "Balls to the Wall" and "Flash Rockin' Man") surfaced shortly thereafter, with fan reaction being somewhat mixed. There was a lot of "Why bother? It's not Accept without Udo," etc. I myself was unimpressed with what I heard, but eventually I decided to hold off on my final judgment till I heard new studio material. The band went off to England to record their new album with Andy Sneap (Nevermore, Exodus, Megadeth, Arch Enemy) and we all waited to hear the final product. On May 21, 2010, the band's new video for "Teutonic Terror" hit the internet to ecstatic praise. Not only did the song totally rip, but the video is utterly bad ass, with the band performing the track against a backdrop of roaring flames, piles of artillery shells, a tank, and other military equipment. Mark Tornillo's vox were gritty enough to fit the Accept style, without sounding like an out-and-out Udo clone. I was sold on the new album as soon as I saw this video. BLOOD OF THE NATIONS was released on Nuclear Blast Records in September of 2010 and I eagerly got my hands on a copy as quickly as possible. "Teutonic Terror" remains my favorite track, but to be honest, there is not a clinker on this disc. The band has successfully recaptured the vibe that made albums like RESTLESS AND WILD and BALLS TO THE WALL such classics. This is pure, no frills Germanic heavy metal at its absolute finest!! In addition to "Teutonic Terror," I also particularly dig the title track, "Pandemic," "Bucket Full of Hate," and "The Abyss." Even "Time Machine," which is the so-called "bonus track," (usually thrown on as a filler) kicks ass. BLOOD OF THE NATIONS will likely top my "Best of 2010" list at the end of this year, by a wide margin. The album has received near-universal rave reviews and Hoffman was recently quoted as saying that since the album came out, he's been getting a lot of apologies from people who told him previously that he shouldnt' have bothered doing an Accept record without Udo. One has to wonder if Herr Dirkschneider has heard the album yet, and if so, what he has to say about it... Nothing left to say except that BLOOD OF THE NATIONS is a fantastic return to form by a band many had written off a long time ago. Unless you're still one of those stubborn "No Udo, no Accept" guys, you really need to make this disc part of your collection. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | Absolutely love it! I'm a big fan of Mark to begin with, so adding him to Accept made it all that much better. It sounds like the perfect mix of TT Quick and Accept. Of course Udo will always be Accept, but as it stands, this is still a great metal album. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I may have been a little hasty to say this wasn't the album of the year for me. It certainly has staying power. I just keep coming back to this disc over and over again. It's been in heavy rotation since the day it arrived in the mail and I don't see it getting old any time soon. | Quote: | This album surprised me more then any I can remember. Same here. I went in with a kinda "meh" attitude and was very pleasantly surprised. Wolf and Mark were on Eddie Trunk's radio show last night. It was funny to hear Wolf's very heavy German accent and Mark's very heavy New York accent. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| Great review FF!!!! This is an EXCELLENT album - this is a real Metal platter!!!!! I really like it. The only thing missing is Udo, who make this record perfect. As it stands, Mark does an excellent job on this album and I like it a lot - just wish Udo was behind the mic!!!! |

| I was in the camp that thought Accept reuniting with UDO was a dumb idea, didn't they try this before with David Reece and it did not work out, and I felt my opinion was confirmed when I heard the samples of new vocalist Mark of him singing a few Accept classics, and then I read the reviews and I finally bought the album yesterday and holy sh!t does this album smoke!!!
Not much I can add to FF review and I have to say I never heard of TT Quick's music til FF posted a video on FB, so I have nothing to compare the new vocalist past work to, but on Accept's new album he is kicking ass and taking names, and man Wolf Hoffman sounds energized, incredible incredible disc and now I have to eat a healthy serving of crow.
Loved it, and I also think it is great that veteran metal rockers such as Accept, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, KISS, Megadeth, and Metallica have released some of their strongest albums in such recent years, too bad Ozzy did not get the memo. |
