| I really like this band. They aren't a top favorite or anything - but they are good for what they are IMO. I've picked up their first three albums so far, and they are all good, but I do prefer their debut "S/T" album. Any other fans? |

| I'm a big Extreme fan. I think their weakest album by a fair bit is probably their debut - it was just pretty standard hair-tinged metal. It wasn't until Pornograffitti that they really hit their stride and every album after that was great, III Sides especially. Waiting For The Punchline is a big change of pace but I maintain it gets unfair treatment - it's a good album and is really the logical progression of their sound after III Sides' reflective ending. |

| Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad album at all. It just pales in comparison to every thing after. |

| I prefer their debut "S/T" to both the albums that followed. To me "III Sides to Every Story" is their weakest. It's still good though. 1. Extreme - 2. II: Pornograffiti 3. III Sides to Every Story I need to get their other two. Does anyone have their last one? How is it? |

| I didn't like the debut album, except for Play With Me that was in Bill & Ted's.
II is excellent, a perfect example of a 3nd album blowing away the first
III is different, but an excellent. excellent album!
I don't have the others |

| I ran hot and cold with this band. I thought the first album was generic as hell, but PORNOGRAFFITI was and is an excellent album (even though I never EVER want to hear "More Than Words" again as long as I live). I could take or leave III SIDES TO EVERY STORY and WAITING FOR THE PUNCHLINE was dull as dishwater IMO. I traded that one off years ago.
I saw'em live on the PORNOGRAFFITI tour and as Shiney sez, they are indeed an excellent live act. I met Gary Cherone and Pat Badger at that gig and they were both very cool guys as well.
Never bothered with SAUSAGES OF ROCK or whatever the hell the newest album is called.... _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| I never liked the debut album but 'II' blew me away, Nuno is an amazing guitarist, amazing and too bad Extreme where lupped in with hair metal bands such as Poison etc when in reality they had more in common with a band like Queen. 'III Sides to Every Story" is an excellent album and you could almost label it a prog album. Great band saddled with an image that does not suit the music. |

I agree - III is pretty much a prog album, if not you can at least call it art rock. |

| I always said that Extreme has progressive elements in their music. I agree. They are very original. Almost like a progressive glam metal. |

| I tried numerous times with these guys but nothing ever stuck. I have a buddy who is a HUGE Nuno fan-boy and he was always talking these guys up like they were the greatest thing since ribbed condoms. I even saw them live as an opening band (can't remember who the headliners were at the moment), but they just don't do anything for me. I can respect Nuno's prowess on the axe, but other than that, pass. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I picked up Extreme's III SIDES TO EVERY STORY at a flea market over the weekend, haven't heard it in years. I had it on cassette back in the day and it never did much for me back then, but the CD was cheap so I figured what the hell.
Giving it a spin right now and yeah, now I remember why this album didn't grab me by the nards back in the day. Maybe it's just me, but I preferred Extreme when they were writing silly hard rock songs about telling Mutha why they didn't want to go to school today, or Getting the Funk Out and doing the Decadence Dance.
I imagine that On III SIDES they'd been listening to a lot of Queen and Beatles records and suddenly decided "Hey, we can do that too. We have lots to say!"... bad idea. People weren't buying Extreme albums to hear a Big Bold Statement on how Gary Cherone feel about the universe.
The album's WAY too frickin' long, much more mellow/artsy/pretentious than I expect from this band, WAY too self important, too, too.... zzzzzzzzzzzz.
This will likely be its one and only spin. Yuck. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

you read my mind! I think they were underrated because of the hair metal tag (and the curse of the hair metal acoustic ballad hit!) |
