| LIVING SACRIFICE - S/T (1991) 1. Violence 2. Internal Unrest 3. Second Death 4. Obstruction 5. Walls Of Separation 6. Phargx Imas 7. No Grave Concern 8. Dealing With Ignorance 9. The Prodigal 10. Anorexia Spiritual Living Sacrifice formed as a thrash metal band in arguably the greatest year in Christian metal, 1989. And their self-titled debut is still a classic thrash masterpiece. Original lineup was Bassist & vocalist D.J., guitarists Bruce Fitzhugh and Jason Truby, and drummer Lance Garvin. My favorite thing about this great album are the relentless and technical guitar riffs. Just one after the next. And factoring in the age of Bruce and Jason at this time makes that aspect even more jaw dropping. D.J. had a pretty straightforward vocal style, no singing but not a scream, and man did it work! This album has certainly stood the test of time for me as it still gets regular play on my iPod. I seemed to discover thrash all at once, cutting my teeth on Deliverance, Vengeance Rising, Sacrament, Mortification and this fine album. I was just blown away as a teenager at the speed and intensity of this tape. Their first and ONLY thrash release. This is just another album that has so much sentimental value for me, on top of it being a monster thrash classic. Just allot of great memories for me during this time.

| This is a great album. It reminded me of Slayer when I first heard it. I was hooked immediately. Too bad they never achieved anything this great again. |

| Great CD. A cross between Believer and Slayer. The drums especially have a Believer sound. This one has a youthful energy. This is my favorite Living Sacrifice disc. Nothing else after it would ever be as good IMO. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I've been waiting for this thread! Man what a great album, the only thing I notice is that the solos are all pretty much the same with a few exceptions. The whammy is way overused but everything else is just killer, as much as I love Thrash surprisingly this is not my fave LS but still a great album. |

| Haven't heard this one in a looooong time. A Christian guy I was friends with in college (I mentioned him in the Vengeance Rising discog-thread) loaned me this tape many MANY years ago. I remember that I dug it (he had to keep hassling me to give it back to him; I would ask "can I keep it for just another couple of days, pleeeeeeze?" Hahahaha) but for whatever reason, I never got around to obtaining my own copy. Too much metal at that time, not enough $$ to buy it all, I suppose. _________________ "God's the ultimate playa, so naturally He's going to have some haters," rapper Ice Cube said. | The very best of Living Sacrifice!! I dont think this album is all that similar to Slayer, especially in the vocals, DJ had his own sound for Living sacrifices thrash metal. Killer killer album! Too bad they didnt come out with a followup in the same vein. Favorate track: No grave concern _________________ |

| Hey Stender, I saw them on their first tour and they played a few new songs that were suppose to be for the follow-up. It's unfortunate that didn't happen. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| This is the best of their catalog in my opinion.Great ripping Thrash similar to Slayer and Believer.I wish they had carried on in this direction instead of winding up in the metalcore vein.Favorite tracks include Obstruction,Dealing with Ignorance,But the whole album slays. |

| I've seen this disc in the little used shop I frequent. Thought about picking it up but never have. Maybe I'll give 'em a shot if I stumble upon it again. By most accounts, this debut is the best of the bunch, huh? _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

After this it was death metal and then in my opinion, progressive death metal with a core influence. But nothing even remotely similar to this thrash debut. |

Wow! Hmmm....I wonder if those will ever turn up? Maybe on a reissue of the self titled as bonus tracks or something._________________ |

| Living Sacrifice was one of the bigger Christian metal acts that I never really clicked with. I really need to go back and listen to their albums again, it's been years.... Anyhow, this debut is ok enough, I guess. Technical thrash metal it is. My favorite track is "No Grave Concern". _________________ |

| Decent release - nothing spectacular. It never really grabbed me as a must have. Members of Living Sacrifice would go on to join POD and Evanescence. |

| Pretty easily the best LS album. These guys were just kids when they did this one. Pretty impressive talent, here. It does have a very Slayer-ish sound, with the way the guitar riffs are, and all. I played the heck out of this when I got it way back when. As for the Believer similarities, it may be because Joey Daub (Believer's drummer) produced the album. At least, I think he did. I'm another who really wishes they had stayed with this style instead of going the death metal route...which wasn't really even pure death metal, anyway. More like thrash/death.
BTW, Jason Truby was in the band all the way through Reborn...he did not leave after recording this self-titled first album. They didn't have any lineup changes until Reborn. |

| Awesome, I got to this thread shortly after it's conception. I could participate in the Aerosmith and Black Sabbath ones, but they are too far in and I'm too lazy to do so now, maybe later. Great thrash album in the more extreme style. Unfortunatly I haven't given this album it's proper share of spins because that style doesn't hold me for long. However, when I do listen to it it's quite enjoyable and if they had continued in this style they would have been even better. |
