How wasn't he allowed to shine in Megadeth? Some of his solos where astounding with them. An awesome player.

We all know Dave wants all the attention. What I meant was Marty is a lot more capable then some of the solos he laid down. Its like he was being held back.

I guess I didn't get that. Sure, Dave is a crazy man but he let Marty play about half the solos and even shred at times. It's Dave's show so you kind of get what he gives.

THEODORE ZIRAS...A Neo Classical trained guitar phenom who plays a very similar style to say a Yngwie Malmsteen but is a lot more cleaner and far more aggressive on the guitar. This mans sweeping technique can only be said as "AMAZING" He has multiple solo albums out and if I could suggest one I would stay start out with HYPERPYREXIA its more straight forward metal..

One of the best classical sweep patters ever recorded...

This man also has hundreds of videos to help you play all kinds of styles of music. A true guitar pioneer...ENJOY

MICHAEL SCHENKER...A legend in my eyes who plays with so much charisma its fun to watch. He looks like he is having such a great time up there. The tone that comes out of this mans guitar is amazing and his chops are just as amazing. One of the finest out there and one very capable player...

Schenker is classic! He influenced tons of the early thrash players. Mustaine, Hammett etc...

ALLEN COLLINS.... One of my biggest influences and someone who just exploded with passion and emotion on the guitar. He did so much at such a young age and to many recorded the best solo ever still to this date in Free Bird..

Schenker is great. One of my personal favorites.

Collins is a very good guitarist, I just don't care for Lynyrd Skynyrd much.

Collins was always my favorite Skynyrd gee-tar-ist. Way too much tragedy in his life, too much. I'm gonna have to find the remastered re-issue of "Here There and Back". I have this version on vinyl.

Would love to get Here, There & Back. It's probably the best solo project of any Skynyrd member IMO.

I need to pick that up again, haven't had it for awhile since I ditched cassettes. Great feel to his playing.

I liked it until he started "shredding". That was just boring.

actually it was really clean and it wasnt really shredding it was still very melodic... Thats what these people do they shred. If you get that good on the guitar you tend to stray away from simple things. Solos should build up and go all out then slow down again and he does it perfect IMO..

It just all sounds the same to me when people start playing at mach 5 and it gets really boring. The notes go by too fast and all start to run together so there's no personality at all. Speed is all fine and dandy, but when a solo is nothing but speed it just bores me to tears and I see it as "OMG, look at how good I am!!!".

I see your point and a lot of people feel that way IMO... I think the fast parts do sound sometimes samey but damn that takes tons of practice and skill..

Does he have a band? He is really good!

I like the shredding because he keeps it interesting. Playing too simple is boring to me... everything has it's place.

He has 2 solo discs out which are pretty heavy and intense and is the lead guitarist for a band called Sacred Mother Tongue who have an album called Ruin of Man. He is mostly known for his lessons online... His band is more metalcore then anything and Andy crushes on the album. Its hit or miss but pretty heavy...

Pretty heavy riffs...

Best song off the album IMO pretty awesome groove here...

Andy Timmons

Andy Timmons

Andy Timmons defines the term as one of the most underrated players to ever pick up the guitar. You might have heard his name before if you have ever listened to Danger Danger he was there lead guitar player. He also appeared on a Kip Winger solo album. The guy can do all styles and has some of the best melody ever. The man can just do it all and I highly recommend checking him out or any of the bands he's played with...

I have Danger Danger stuff and have always appreciated his style. That's the one thing some of these new young shredders miss out on is melody in their solos.
