I don't think Kevin Shirley announced that it was Maiden who finished recording their album. But if it really is... that's pretty quick. They probably did it live again. I hope it's not gonna have that thick, muddy sound with 7-9 minute songs on it, though.

A Matter Of Life And Death was a GREAT album - I LOVE it! I didn't find myself missing some shorter, punchier songs. When I want some epic Iron Maiden, I pull that CD out of the shelf. I am completely satisfied with it. If the band decides to mix it up a bit more this time, I will be pleased as well. Maiden have been going strong since the "reunion". Long Live Iron Maiden

Nope, the new Maiden record is pretty much done - just a few final "tweaks". Maiden usually records fast, so this isn't a change. These days, the band records the basic tracks together (no click tracks), then adds some layers to the guitars, any keys, vocal overdubs, etc. Pretty normal for Maiden. Plus, they've been in studios and playing for 30 + years, the past 10 + with Bruce back and the three guitar line up. They play tight together.

I am with Mglaffas81, I loved 'LMOLAD', one of the best albums in the Iron Maiden discography and loved the epic songwriting on the album.

AMOLAD left a little flat. I really dug some stuff and was just a little with some of the other stuff....

I just hope for this album that the opening sound isn't by H.... Different World was the worst of the last three openers... imo.....

Reincarnation of Benjamin Bregg was killer..... I also loved 'For the Greater Good of God'...

Hopefully their new album won't have every single song starting off slow and clean like the last 2 albums! I love Iron Maiden but they have really gotten light. I need some HEAVY Iron Maiden again!

The worst kept secret (aside from Maiden recording at Compass Point and the new album being finished) is the May/June US tour to be announced next Thursday:

He's 53 already? He looks a lot younger if you ask me (and no, I'm not talking about the pic Freddy posted), especially if you compare him with Nicko.

How 'bout everyone's top ten of Maiden epics? Mine would probably be something like this:

1. Phantom of the Opera
2. Hallowed be thy Name
3. Sign of the Cross
4. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
5. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
6. Alexander the Great
7. To Tame a Land
8. For the Great Good of God
9. These Colours Don't Run
10. The Clansman

My fave Iron Maiden albums;

1. Dance of Death
2. Somewhere in Time
3. No Prayer for the Dying
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
5. Brave New World
6. A Matter of Life and Death
7. The Number of the Beast
8. Powerslave
9. Fear of the Dark
10. Piece of Mind
11. Iron Maiden
12. Killers

I still have not heard the two 'Blaze' albums yet. Always been afraid to pick em up. I need them to fill the holes in the collection though - so I shall one day snag em.
