| I need to expand my library of bands I'm familiar with (and need to be aquainted with)and need some help on deciding which albums to get or put at the top of my wantlist. Please just one suggestion per band (I don't need two or more people giving me a laundry list of albums for each band), I'll pick the one picked the most or if not draw from a hat. These are the bands:
Rage Lefay Arena Jorn (I have The Gathering, Unlocking The Past, & Spirit Black) Pagan's Mind (I have God's Equation) Raven Sacred Reich Scorpions Tad Morose Twisted Sister (I have Stay Hungry) Twisted Tower Dire (I have Crest Of The Martyrs) Accept Vanden Plas (I have Christ 0) Threshold Voivod Candlemass Forbidden Iron Savior Virgin Steele Angra Much appreciated. |

| Scorpions - Taken By Force Twisted Tower Dire - The Curse of Twisted Tower (recently rereleased in a remastered and remixed double disc package with demos. It sounds amazing... a lot better than the original 1998 disc on Miskatonic Foundation) Accept - Balls to the Wall Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (I cannot stress enough how perfect this album is!) Forbidden - Forbidden Evil Virgin Steele - Invictus
The Scorpions, Virgin Steele and Accept picks were hard, but these are all my personal favorites. |

Some of these are all time favorites of mine! Here's what I'd recommend ... Jorn ~ Out to Every Nation Pagan's Mind ~ Celestial Entrance (this one is a MUST HAVE!!!) Sacred Reich ~ The American Way (easily their best one) Scorpions ~ Face the Heat (this album is SO underrated!!) Accept ~ Balls to the Wall Voivod ~ Katorz Candlemass ~ Ancient Dreams (this is a MASTERPIECE!!! My all time favorite doom metal album!) Forbidden ~ Forbidden Evil Iron Savior ~ Unification Virgin Steele ~ Age of Consent (easily their crowning achievement!!!) Angra ~ Fireworks |

That just happens to be my least favorite Cmass disc... Not that I hate it, but it's not quite as amazing as the rest of their discography imo. Good call on Blackout though. Everything Scorps did til Love at First Sting is essential. |

| Rage--Missing Link Candlemass--Tales of Creation (I'm not into 'doomy' stuff so much but I love this disc) Accept--Restless and Wild Forbidden--Twisted into Form Sacred Reich--the American Way (you will probably end up destroying something while listening to this disc--most likely your neck). (Most of the others I am familiar with only one album.....) |

I agree about the Candlemass. IMHO, Rob Lowe (though he's a great singer in his own right -- just doesn't fit Candlemass like Messiah Marcolin did). |

It has more to do with the songwriting than with Rob Lowe imo. I love King of the Grey Islands (although it took me about two years... initially I didn't like it at all, haha), and my favorite Candlemass disc is Epicus, which Messiah didn't sing on. I like most of the songs themselves on Death Magic Doom, but they just don't work as an album. |

If you're not into doom that's pretty much the best disc. There's a lot of heavy/power metal sounding parts on that disc. I still love it though. |

| Lefay - my fav is THE SEVENTH SEAL. Raven - you must, must, MUST own ALL FOR ONE!! Their absolute high water mark and one of the greatest metal albums ever recorded IMO. Yeah, I'm a fanboy. You might also like STAY HARD and/or ARCHITECT OF FEAR. Tad Morose - UNDEAD, MATTERS OF THE DARK, and MODUS VIVENDI all kill. Their vocalist at that time (Urban Breed) has one of the best sets of pipes in all of metaldom. Twisted Sister - go with YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK N ROLL or UNDER THE BLADE. Skip COME OUT & PLAY and LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| SACRED REICH - Ignorance (not a high priority, sounds like early Metal Blade-era SLAYER) VOIVOD - Nothingface (Awesome, highly original metal) FORBIDDEN - Forbidden Evil (awesome classic Bay Area thrash with skilled guitars and vocals) CANDLEMASS - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (excellent cult doom metal with lots of great riffs and songs) |

| Some of those bands have different phases, so depending on what you are looking for: Rage- Perfect Man (heavy) Rage- Ghosts (melodic) Morgana Lefay-Past, Present, Future (classics) Lefay- Seventh Seal (heavy) Tad Morose- A Mended Rhyme (melodic prog-doom) Tad Morose- Undead (heavy) also: Angra- Angels Cry/Holy Land might still be available together. Threshold- Extinct Instinct also for my personal two cents, if you don't have any Ten, get The Twilight Chronicles if you want a good melodic epic. |

| Raven-All for One-Listen to FF, this album kicked ass and still kicks ass.
Scorpions-Taken By Force- this album is sort of preview of what the Scorps would sound like in the 80's, great songs, great ballads (before the term power ballads existed) and Uli Jon Roth is one hell of guitar playing. This album is my favorite by this band, class act all the way.
Twisted Sister-You Can't Stop Rock n Roll- A band hungry to be the next big American metal band, not pop metal and not thrash, good old fashion kick ass American metal and features the best set of tunes the Sister boys ever layed down on wax.
Accept-Balls to the Walls-Again one of the best metal albums of the 80's, strong political overtones and classic landmark metal recording
Voi Vod-The Outer Limits-One of the most original metal recordings in the long history of the genre plus extra points for covering Pink Floyd's Nile Song. |
