Coroner is one of my favorite bands, but their last album (Grin) was not a real thrash record. I do like it though especially the solos. |

Grin is one of their top albums, every second of that record is mind blowing. |

No argument there, i agree. I just don't think it is a thrash record per se. I think it was meant to be experimental and a little bit ethereal. |

| I picked Mustaine, but the guitarist that needs to be up there is the guitarist of Howling Syn. |

| I voted Mustaine because he did Megadeth's only opus "When" which borrows from AM I EVIL since the vocalist and Mustaine wronte Crown of Worms together. Howling Syn is a Gothic Metal outfit from Montreal -- right now the band is on sabbatical because they're without a label and down to the two core members. Look up Devilries on Amazon.com and get it used. I know Pat via correspondence on MSN over the years -- his side career is that he's a band photographer. The track that stands out on Devilries is The Night He Came Home (which is based on the horror film series, Halloween.) I could have voted Kerry King too here because they are close to their styles of thrash metal, but Mustaine composes pieces that could work with an orchestra like Tourniquet or Iced Earth. When Megadeth first disbanded, they passed the torch to Iced Earth. |
