1. replace Cauldron Born with Running Wild and I'd agree, or if Crimson Glory had kept going from their second album, I would agree......but anyway, Cauldron Born leans far too much to the proggy minor key stuff that Fates Warning would do except the difference is that it felt NATURAL and not as if it was trying to emulate something......this problem plagues countless bands currently in the scene....trying too hard..
2. equal IMO
3. Yes, and Turbin's solo stuff is also better than all recent Anthrax, or everything since the 90's really.
4. Yes
5. Yes
6. I slightly prefer Ripper insofar as his actual style, it sounds more individual, but I would say that Ski is technically the better singer. Also Geoff Tate > Dickinson + Kiske (all classic eras)
7. Terrible goes well with Testament, so..
8. Yes
9. ...ok, that's brutal, as amazingly boring as Iced Earth is. I don't know what to say because I don't want to extol either so this is a draw.

Hell, I've got some controversial opinions. I might as well join in.

1. Guns n' Roses sucks. Always have, always will.
2. Vinnie Vincent is one of the worst guitar players I've ever heard.

And that's about it...

11. No, but many of his second guitar players did little of interest, i.e. Shannon Hamm is stiff as a board. The 'Human' lineup is where it's at.
12. really really sucks, and annoying tone, but I know I've heard worse somewhere..
13. I concur with the Kerry King comments, but also, I stopped reading guitar magazines like.............forever ago, so I can't even answer..but I am sure there are worse..
14. Good album and Metal Church got sort of pedestrian so I guess I can agree although I have not heard every album past that one.
15. That's just because the discography is too big.
16. Yes, or maybe they were never all that true to begin with and couldn't retain a classic sound in a later era; they fit in before because they were a part of the beginning and then rode the wave, but to lose your way that bad...hm.
17. Debatable
18. Yes, and I don't even listen to those old ones much anymore.
19. Only Messiah
20. Large as in..? In any case, I think I can beat that: Zonata to Century Media..the third album (Buried Alive) is good, but their debut is absolutely atrocious, one of the absolute worst things I have heard. yeah, Seven Witches is a pretty mediocre band though.

21. HELSTAR "Nosferatu" features the best twin guitar work in the entire history of metal.
22. TESTAMENT wrote a lot of mediocre songs in the 80s.
23. Dio's lyrics are really awful for the most part.
24. Halford sold out when it was commercially convenient and only returned to metal when all other doors had closed
25. "Cracked Brain" is by far DESTRUCTION's best album
26. "Rust in Peace" is the worst album of MEGADETH's first four releases
27. Andy LaRoque is the single best guitar soloist in all of metal history
28. ANTHRAX should be removed from "The Big 4" because of how poorly they have performed since they kicked out Belladonna
29. Danny Lilker writes better guitar riffs than Jon Schaffer
30. A lot of CORONER's music is hit or miss: some brilliant things and a lot of quirky, weird, goofy things that don't quite work

1.) Nope
2.) Depends on the one's you're talking about, the writing on the Blaze albums was pissass for the most part. But, I'd say they're pretty even when compared with DOD, FOTD, and NPFTD.
3.) My two favorite Anthrax album's. I consider them equal.
4.) Eh, once again both are kinda on the same plane in my mind. However FABULOUS DISASTER is better than both.
5.) Disagree, SNM is good, but Slayer wasn't full evolved yet.
6.) Agree
7.) Agree, but alot of Testament's music sucks.
8.) Agree
9.) Not a fan of IE, so no opinion there.

I like Dio's lyrics:

The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
the sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell

I've been seen upon the sun
I used to count in millions then
But now I only count in one
Come on, join the traveler
If you got nowhere to go
Hang your head and take my hand
It's the only road I know
Yeah, Lonely is the word

She had thirteen years of teenage tears and never a helping hand
She had fourteen more of rain before she saw the sight of land
She was a photograph just ripped in half a smile inside a frown
And then the light the answer right inside her coming down

Shame on the night for places I've been and what I've seen for giving me the strangest dreams
But you never let me know just what they mean so oh oh so shame on the night alright
And shame on you you've stolen the day snatched it away but I saw the sky and I never want to die
Now you know the reason why I say oh shame on the night

Just a few I like what is wrong with these lyrics?

That was a very selective sample. I am not saying every line of every DIO song is bad. But what's wrong?

1. They're often about nothing
2. Forced rhymes that have no meaning

I can definatly agree with the Halford statement and almost agree on the Andy LaRoque seeing as he's one of my top 5 guitarists of all time. I can't agree with the Testament satement and Rust In Peace is my favorite of the first 4 Megadeth albums. I wouldn't say Dio's lyricas are terrible but he's certainly not a wordsmith by any means (though he could probably write lyrics better than I could).

Laughing very hard

Well, it;s not like everything someone writes is a winner, but overall his lyrics fit the music are well above average for Metal lyrics!!!!

Manny posted an example of bad lyrics - but I think they are Spinal Tap, but not sure.

31. "Psycho Savant" is a much better album than "Among the Living"
32. ANVIL is a terrible band and shouldn't have ever expected financial success or fame.
33. MANILLA ROAD is also a terrible band.
34. So is CIRITH UNGOL.
35. Chris Barnes is a more interesting vocalist than George Fisher.
36. NILE is one of the most boring bands to ever get signed and tour.
37. "The Graveyard" is a better album than "Them".
38. So is "Spider's Lullabye".
39. OBSESSION "Methods to Madness" is far superior to the bulk of HAMMERFALL's catalog.
40. So is YNGWIE MALMSTEEN's "The Seventh Sign".
