Corey Haim was found dead today of a suspected drug overdose. He stared in some of the best movies of the 1980s. The Lost Boys, Silver Bullet and License to Drive.
RIP Corey Haim, you will be missed.

When I saw a couple episodes of "The Two Coreys", it was so evident that Mr. Haim's life was in a freefall. For instance, he was going to join Corey Feldman in "The Lost Boys 2", but he was so high/intoxicated that he couldn't remember his lines/difficult to work with, so he was ultimately fired from the movie.

The funny thing is Corey Feldman also had problems throughout much of the 90's, but somehow he was able to forgive Hollywood for his post child star life. Mr. Haim on the other hand seemed to never be able to get over it.

No shock but very sad. For some the fame just eats them up.

It's a shame but as Eye sez, it's not exactly a shock.... especially if you saw the shape this guy was in on that A&E show he did with Feldman ("The Two Coreys") a few years back.

The surprising thing about THAT show for me was how it looked like Feldman (who'd been a legendary party animal/drug fiend for much of the 80s and into the 90s) had gotten his sh*t together.

Ten years ago if you'd asked me to place a bet on which Corey was gonna go first, I would've put all my $$ on Feldman, but he's definitely straightened up his act.

but my wife is a fan of both and she about freaked this morning, I admit I was surprised especially since it seems celebrity deaths come in 3s

It's an incredibly easy thing to do, especially for a long term addict who has to take bigger doses to overcome the tolerance they've built up, or he misjudged the strength of the drugs he was taking and gave himself too strong a dose. One of the more tragic examples I heard of for accidental overdose was a guy who'd been a heavy drug addict but had cleaned himself up, years later with his life falling apart through no fault of his own he slipped back into the habit. However he made the mistake of assuming his body still had the same level of tolerance and so overdosed.

I always thought Haim was a really funny guy. He had a goofy charm to him. He was great in The Lost Boys and License to Drive.

Shame what fame does to some people. You get treated like royalty and have everthing handed to you yet still manage to get yourself screwed up. Proof money and fame can't buy happiness (nor does it last long). In one sense it's sad, but with how often it happens, it's hard to feel sorry for people who don't learn a lesson from their predecessors.

"I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face.

"I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference.

"Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived.
