I'm mostly looking for some Iron Maiden/Judas Priest sounding bands. Some good bands that I've discovered are: Primal Fear, Gamma Ray, Dream Evil and Cage. I like these bands because their vocalists are obviously influenced by Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford.

Could you guys please suggest to me some bands that sound similar to Maiden & Priest (especially the vocals)?

Note: they don't have to be Power Metal bands!

Thanks guys, I'll be sure to check out those bands. Judas Priest is also my favorite band! I've been on a Painkiller binge lately. That whole album is insane! Iron Maiden are one of my top 5 favorites. But while the band kicks ass live, I've always felt there is something missing in their studio albums even though I'm not sure exactly what it is...

Looks like Ult has you pretty well covered... and I totally echo his Liege Lord (esp. their MASTER CONTROL album), Barren Cross, and Jag Panzer recommendations...heck, I like just about every band he listed there.


(takes a quick look thru my pile of CDs to see if there are any bands that Ult hasn\'t already mentioned)... how'bout Heaven's Gate? Pretty cool German band.

Raven

Ravage

Ravage is a good suggestion.

I thought about Raven, but if he's looking for bands with vocalists similar to Halford and Dickinson, Raven don't really fit. John Gallagher has a unique voice for sure. He's long been one of my favorites. I also thought about suggesting Anvil, but again the vocals don't really fit the sound he was looking for.

Running Wild, but not vocally. But I don't think you would dislike the vocals. Classic galloping speed/heavy metal, riffs and twin guitars everywhere. See 'Death or Glory', 'Pile of Skulls', 'Blazon Stone'.

Second Liege Lord, the 'Master Control' album.

Stormwitch, German band from the same era with a strong NWOBHM feel. 'Stronger Than Heaven', 'Tales of Terror'.

Crimson Glory, recalls a bit more Rÿche than Priest, but an obviously Halford/Tate inspired vocalist in Midnight.

Agent Steel might be of interest as well. The music is more speed metal, but the vocals should please.
