I rec'd the new Misery Index and Criminal Element cds in the mail yesterday and had to do a lot of driving today (lucky me) and was able to hear them both a number of times. Adam seems to be an underrated drummer (just b/c I never hear/see him mentioned when talking abut drummers) and one of my favorites, as I really like these two bands. Now I am not saying he is the 'best' or 'most talented', etc etc---just awesome at what he does.
It was a pleasure to receive the auditory bludgeoning from him today!!

I'm not really familiar with either of these bands.

Are they thrash? metalcore?

I'm not familiar with those band either.

Please elucidate.

Misery Index is Death Metal (some lump them into 'grind' or call them 'death grind').
Most of the band was in Dying Fetus (Destroy the Opposition cd).

Criminal Element is of a similar style of death metal, as they share some members. Originally they had members from Suffocation and Dying Fetus, and now Misery Index (on the last two).

Just brutal death metal that is fun to listen to.

I'll try to check out those two bands.

I've heard some say that "if you like Dying Fetus then you'll like Misery Index". So that may be a rule to use if you think you may like them, but they do not 'sound alike'. They are not in the vein of Suffocation or Nile and they are not in the 'tech' vibe either (the faceless, obscura. necrophagist).
Just a crunchy guitars, double bass death metal onslaught.
