PostSubject: New Pro-Pain - Absolute Power   Sat May 22, 2010 2:38 am

Pro-Pain are IMO one of the best and most consistent bands out there. They have released around a dozen or so albums of just great HEAVY/GROOVE metal tunes. They are about to release Absolute Power in June and here is a few sneek peeks from yet another great album. This album seems to have taken on the same vibe as No End in Sight IMO and thats not a bad thing as I loved that cd.

If you don't know these guys I highly recommend their earlier material to the later but it's all good to me. I own everything these guys have done and this is another one I pre-ordered...

I've discussed them hear numerous times. I love them, and this CD is most definitely another killer! It's not as experimental as No End In Sight, which had a ton of more hardcore/punk singalongs, something new for Pro-Pain. I thought that album was slightly unfocused at first, but it grew on me. Absolute Power still tries new things—the death metal riffs and blast beats in "Hate Coalition," for instance—which I think is great, but it's Pro-Pain through and through.

Im digging the album but I feel some of the songs lose that great connecting groove with Rick Halverson behind the kit. One of the best things about Pro-Pain is that they start the groove off slow then just hit that great connecting beat.

This def has some different moments and these guys need to be heard. I think the hardcore label turns ppl off but I just dont hear that in them anymore...

Only in Gary's vocals and some of the riffs but these guys have more in common with groove metal and thrash metal to me IMO.. They have some songs that are straight hardcore but other then a few songs on each album i would label these guys a metal band not a hardcore band.

Albums like Contents, The Truth Hurts, Prophets of Doom, Age of Tyranny and Act of God are all pretty much metal to me... Sure they all have their hardcore moments but thats just what i hear.

I think Pro-Pain really straddles the line between hardcore and metal on many of their discs. That said - this album is KILLER! Heavy, fast, moshy - and totally angry. I would say the opposite of their last album. I would guess the hardcore is present in the vitriolic delivery and power behind the riffs.

Pro-Pain is really a true metalcore band. I still think there's more hardcore than anything else, but there's plenty of metal as well.

Here's samples of the new album. This might turn out to be their best sounding album yet!

The last song dabbles in Death Metal territory!

This album is killer! I haven't seen it around here yet, but I downloaded it. It smokes!

And yeah, they've been experimenting with some death metal stuff on the last few albums.

Dan Richardson is still my fav Pro-Pain drummer.. The guy did everything right on every track. Also the guy that played on the previous few discs did a real good job as well.. As far as technical skills I agree, but all the Pro-Pain drummers have fit well..

New album is amazing as well....
