One of my favorites!

Did you see the original UK version with the downer ending or the stupid US "happy" version?

The DVD I got was the "unrated uncut" version with the "downer" ending.

I had heard that there were two different endings to the movie so as the movie headed towards its climax I was wondering which one I was going to get. Laughing

The sequel picks up at the "happy" ending. It's not bad but naturally not as good as the first one.

Well, yeah, I guess they'd have to pick up from the "happy" ending, cuz they wouldn't have had much to pick up from with the "other" ending, now would they? Laughing

I'm sure I'll get to the sequel at some point.

Funny thing, I went downstairs and threw "Descent" on late last night cuz I couldn't sleep, so I needed something to kill some time. That DVD has been in my house for a couple of months now but I could never talk my wife into watchin' it with me cuz she's slightly claustrophobic and therefore the whole concept seemed too scary for her. So anyway, about halfway thru the movie I'm thinkin' to myself that it was a good thing I was watching it alone, cuz my wife NEVER would've made it through that entire film. It would've scarred her for life.

The funny thing about The Descent is that you almost don't need the monsters to show up because the claustrophobic spelunking stuff is scary enough on its own Smile

Yeah, that's true. Even before the monsters came into things, it was already a pretty scary, people-in-peril story. Adding the flesh chowing monsters late in the run time was just a cherry on top. Laughing

It's not like I spoiled some "big reveal." They showed the creatures in the trailers and the posters!

The UK ending is definitely the better of the two, in fact it's actually kind of poetic.

Easily one of the better horror films of the past decade.

"Zombieland" w/Woody Harrelson and a couple of hip twenty somethings I'm not familiar with. Freakin hilarious movie. "Time to nut up or shut up."

Watched that one again the other night. Well, most of it anyway. Great movie. The celebrity cameo was priceless.

The Crazies

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Yeah, we've seen a lot of this "viral outbreak" flicks recently but the performances in this are very solid and there's some genuince "jumpy" moments.

Is it totally different than the original Romero flick?

It is. Considering how many times this idea has been done recently, I was surprised how effective it still was. I pretty much forgot that I'd seen similar ideas in 28 Days Later or Cabin Fever for instance.

Miracle Mile

A straight to video 80's movie with Anthony Edwards about an impending nuclear accident and a guy falling in love. People have raved about what an unheralded movie this is. Certainly wasn't for me. In fact it gave me a bad headache. Which may have been from the eighties fashion horror going on. At one point it looked like the movie was going to take an awesome turn - but it didn't. And my headache got worse.

Zombieland may legit be my favorite movie in the last ten years. I have never gotten sick of watching it again and again.

I thought The Descent was okay until I saw the downer ending. That ending was brilliant.

Yep. Although I think "The Descent" would still be a pretty good film even with the "happy ending", the downer ending just made the whole movie more memorable IMO.

I remember this one (vaguely), saw it years ago. Liked it pretty well if memory serves.
