Audio samples to come shortly. Album has just been mastered by Magnus "Devo" Andersson at Endarker Studios in Sweden.

Thanks, to have a good classic hand-drawn artwork is very important to us. I wouldn't have it any other way, regardless how cheaper and convenient a photoshopped collage option would be.

Out of professional curiosity, what do you get charged by the artists on average for these painted covers?

It depends on the artist and the particular job, but on average I'd say around $500.00

Just for the trivia, the biggest commission I've paid so far was $811.00 which goes a bit outside the budget bracket for a release limited to 1000 copies obviously, but I really wanted to have a piece by that particular illustrator.

Next time I'll break this number would be when I get artwork from Ken Kelly. Which is on my agenda, I just need to find the proper release for it.

Last year at Rock And Shock, Ken Kelly was in the booth next to the New England Horror Writers. One of his paintings of Destroyer (I wonder how many times he's painted it?) kept getting knocked off the easel. I even saved it once. Then I knocked it over, went to grab it, and it caught on a hook on the easel and cut a big hole in it. He never saw it, and thanked me for "saving" it. Haha.

I felt bad, and I only laugh because that damn thing was going for $800! I'm not pointing out the big hole I made. Hell no!

StormSpell, you think you could list me some of these illustrators, I will need something (a cover) done soon and the person I am trying to work with is seriously dragging and nothing is happening.

The art is so awesome... If I saw this in a CD store I would buy it immediately, JUST becasue of the art. Will there be a poster or T shirt available for this?

Probably not. T-shirts never sold good for us. And with such artwork to make a decent shirt it will require at least 8-10 color screens, which on making 50 shirts would cost arm and leg.

So is this a new band doing the retro thing or are they an old band that got overlooked "back in the day"?

Either way, I'm intrigued.

Wow, that seems extremely cheap from what I've seen from other artists for hand painted stuff. I was thinking easily in the thousands.

If you ever need any comic bookish style stuff let me know.

Is it hand painted on canvas or Photoshop? That may make the difference.

This is a current band. They have been around since 2004 and Aftershock is their sophomore release. It should have been released in 2008 but their vocalist perished tragically in fire accident (some kitchen appliance caught fire in the middle of the night and he suffocated on carbon dioxide in his sleep, very unfortunate...).

This album is released in his memory, with 8 songs containing his vocals lifted from the pre-production demo tapes, and two songs with the new vocalist Luka "The Tower" Matkovic

The style is classic Bay Area speed/thrash like Defiance, Detritus, etc. I just got the mastered audio and will put up some samples asap.

Yeah, it takes a lot of time and researching to find a good artist not charging arm and leg which will overkill the entire budget from the start. I can tell you that. Fortunately there are some great artists around which do charge reasonable amounts. The hunt goes on Smile

Send me link to portfolio. I may have an 80s hair metal re-issue in several months which can use cartoonish cover. To be upfront though, I already got my eye on a Russian girl which cranks amazing arts, and her pricing is delicious, so please don't get offended if I turn you down.

It is a digital painting. It has its advantages but still requires considerable time and effort. When you see a high-resolution of it the attention to detail is unbelievable.

Ruslan is crazy, he drew the IMMACULATE cover which has some buildings far out on the background, and when I zoomed in like 3000% in photoshop I found that there are human figures in some of the windows. Totally blew my mind

Here are some demos from the new album
http://www.myspace.com/spaceeaterthrash

The music is just as awesome as the art!

Indeed Bay Area sounding, kinda like Vio-lence mixed with Heathen.

I am excited for this release.

I want to point out those demos are the old 2007 pre-production versions which does not do good justice to the final product.

Here, I've uploaded 3 songs on our myspace. First two are with the original vocalist, the last one is with the new one portraying the direction the band will be developing:

P.S. Pfft, myspace compressed the dynamics out of the tunes once again, oh well...

Man, great stuff. Love the new vocalist! Dude's got a cool style. Aggressive without being screamy.

Yeah, those kids are quite good, and the intensity of their live shows is just unbelievable. I wish we had the money to take them on the road.
