Tour documentary
"The Chase" performed live with Ronnie James Dio in Los Angeles
Queensr˙che Rock & Ride featurette
After the release of Operation: Mindcrime II, Queensryche hit the road performing both the vastly superior original Mindcrime and the follow up, plus 2 encores. They once again brought Pamela Moore and other actors with them. The best part of the tour was when Dio showed up at the Gibson Ampitheater to sing "The Chase" live. The band would record his performance and play it on the video screen during the rest of tour when his part came up during "The Chase"
Queensryche once again decided to film and record a show a Seattle's Moore Theater for release on CD and DVD. This time, they also brought the drum section of a high school marching band to join in during "Anarchy X"
Unfortunately, the marching band doesn't work very well on "Anarchy X". That isn;t the only thing that doesn't work well - disc one, featuring the original Mindcrime just lack the energy of the early performances. Compared to "Operation: LiveCrime", the performance is just lacking. Everything is played well and acted well, but it leaves you lacking.
Disc two features the sequel and 2 encore songs. The performance is a good live version of "Operation: Mindcrime II". Once again, well performed but still lacking energy. There is also some bonus material, the best being Dio and Queensryche together on stage. There is alos a tour doc. There is also a shot of Geoff Tate after the show - in a fuzzy robe drinking a glass of wine. If there is any doubt on who runs the Queensryche show now, that image should show you that Tate is fully in charge, drinking his wine in a fuzzy robe after every gig.
I found myself getting bored with the DVD, and didn't watch it all in one sitting. This would be another CD/DVD's to own if you want to own the entire Queensryche discography. Otherwise, do what I did and rent it from Netflix!
