This are going to be slightly out of order but wanted to discuss the various live albums:

This was officially released by the band featuring vintage QR performances recorded during the Condition Critical tour, not much information given and it sounds like no overdubbing was done on this disc. Also included three demos Quiet Riot did for the Metal Health album and the album is really raw, almost bootleg quality sound, has been reissued with a few different covers.

If you are going to get one live Quiet Riot album this is it, it is cheap, available everywhere and captures Quiet Riot at their height of popularity. Recorded during the Metal Health tour, the band sounds hungry and the energy level is turned up to ten. No information where these shows where recorded but according to a review I read it was recorded in Pasadena, CA and Nashville, TN

I do not own this album so I am not sure if this live tracks are the same that appear on 'Extended Version' or not, but it is part of best of live series of budget albums released on eco friendly packaging that Sony Records has been issuing to much success due to the purchase price of $3 to $5

This thread that I inherited from the legendary Spectre Fate has only one more album to go.

The final Quiet Riot album that I do not own, I listened to it on youtube and this is a very different Quiet Riot then what came before. It is a more serious, with a hint of blues tinged Led Zeppelin style heavy metal, then the party metal of past releases. This of course was sadly the last recordings of the late Kevin Dubrow.

The line up features Kevin Dubrow and Frankie Banali, along with bassist Tony Franklin of the Firm and Blue Murder, and a guitarist I never heard of Neil Citron.

The band seems to have gone way back to the music of their youth, with the songs that hark back to the sounds of Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie and Spooky Tooth. Their is even a cover of the song 'Evil Woman' a song made famous by Spooky Tooth, which features Glenn Hughes on bass and sings a duet with Dubrow.

The whole album is a excellent and I was surprised how much I enjoyed this new sound and direction Quiet Riot seemed to be going. The song 'South of Heaven' (not the Slayer cover) was taken straight from Led Zeppelin style songwriting, even featuring a tasty guitar solo and a bit of harmonic playing in the backroung from Dubrow with Banali doing his best Bonham impression.

Other songs such as 'Blind Faith' so different then anything that Quiet Riot attempted before if it was not for Dubrow's distinct vocals, I would swear it was a different band. Not a bad track on the album, and even if you hated Quiet Riot or disliked the party metal of yesteryear, and you are a fan of 70's era of blues influenced metal you would enjoy this album.

It is too bad that Kevin Dubrow died and the band was unable to explore this new direction. I do not own this album but after the holidays I will certainly be getting it, and with this album ends this thread.

Thank you all who have followed this thread.

Aside from the greatest hits, this is the only other QR cd I own. I was dumpster diving at a record show and found this disc in a box of others for $2. Since I was digging on Kevin DuBrow's recent solo disc, I thought I'd give this one a shot. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy it.

Like Manny and some other reviews have mentioned, this is a little more removed from the Quite Riot of the 80's. This has a slightly more 70's rock kinda vibe which the band pulls off quite nicely. It's a shame that Kevin went out with this as his swan song. Seeing where the band would (or will with the new guy) go could've been interesting.

If you see this disc cheap, I'd recommend it. I think allot of the members here would dig it, even if it ain't Metal Health Pt. III.

Have you considdered throwing Kevin's solo album In For The Kill in here? The similarities between that album and Rehab are quite apparent. I wonder if the recording of In for the Kill (2004) influenced Rehab (2006) with it's 70's rock groove?

Eh, just a suggestion. Maybe that fartknocker SpectreFate would do us the honor since he started this whole thread, only to abandon it like a newborn in a Greyhound bus station bathroom.

I just picked this one up at FYE's going-out-of-business sale (along with the WINNERS TAKE ALL best-of compilation)... till now I've never had any Quiet Riot on CD. I'm about halfway thru the live disc and it's sounding pretty bad-ass thus far. Mind you that's coming from someone who doesn't usually dig live albums, but this one is pretty dang good! headbanger

I love live albums and I was surprised how good this album was, not because Quiet Riot was a bad live act (they weren't) but because these live series of albums seem to be just thrown together to make a quick buck.

This is the first "Extended Versions" disc I've picked up, there are tons of'em out there though. (There's a list of at least 50 other artists available in the series printed on the inside back tray of the CD...everybody from Foghat and Deep Purple to Tesla and the Tubes!)... I understand a good lot of'em are just pared-down re-issues of previously released material (I know the Overkill one is just a handful of tracks from the WRECKING YOUR NECK double live LP) but I gather that there are some previously-unreleased sets in the series as well, like this Quiet Riot disc.
