This is an article I wrote back in 2006. Some things I said in the article like thrash metal no longer existing in the form it once did was a reflection of the times - in 2006 bands like Evile, Vektor, Municipal Waste, Gama Bomb, Bonded By Blood etc. were either not around or awareness of such bands was very limited. In that regard the article sounds somewhat outdated but I hope it is still a good read and it will give you an idea of my tastes.

On that note, I thought I would link everyone here to my article as an introductory note on what I like in metal and some of my general sentiments about metal.

I totally agree with Rust in Peace as a masterpiece! However, as a bass player, I must give much credit to Dave Ellefson for providing a rock-solid foundation for all that soloing. humble
