American Movie Classics is closing out their annual Halloween "Fear Fest" with the premiere of their latest original series, a zombie-apocalypse epic called "The Walking Dead" ... anybody else stoked for this? It looks kick ass.



It's based on a series of graphic novels (unread by me) and was directed by Frank ("The Shawshank Redemption," "The Green Mile") Darabont. I love his stuff and this definitely appears to be a cool, action packed, creepy good time.

AMC has a pretty good track record with original series (How many Emmies have "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" racked up by now?), and this looks like it will carry on that tradition.

The first episode (90 minutes) will premiere at 10 PM on Halloween night. As Homer Simpson would say, "looks like gooooood watchin'."

Looks like its right up my alley.Anything to do with zombies or the undead,Im all over it.

The zombie thing is a little outta my realm of entertainment, but I've seen some previews and it does look kinda cool. My only question is how long can they stretch that premise. I'm not familiar with the graphic novel, but even if they go a whole season of this guy battling zombies, it could get a little poderous week after week.

With a zombie movie, you have a beginning and an end, even if it's a set-up for a sequel. But eventually you know it's gonna run it's course and the hero will either triumph or perish. For a tv series to go on and on, at least for 2 or 3 seasons, it's gonna be a challenge to keep things interesting.

The comic isn't bad, although I'm not sure it really adds anything new to the zombie genre (I stopped reading after the fourth collection). Just imagine a George Romero movie that keeps going instead of stopping after around 2 hours. Basically, it's kept fresh by keeping a large cast of characters and then turning it over periodically, introducing fresh faces to eventually get slaughtered. The show looks very good and I'm hoping it might even improve on the comic in certain ways.

Yeah I also don't know a thing about the graphic novels but I will be watching this series. It's right up my alley (love me some zombie flicks).If it's a hit and continues on,that could make for an interesting viewing getting used to new main characters each season.

AMC has been pimping the hell out of the "Walking Dead" premiere during their "Fear Fest" horror marathons... I have a feeling it's going to be huge.

The TV critic for our paper gave the premiere episode a rave review as well. Sez it's likely the "goriest thing that's ever aired on commercial TV"

Awesome! However, I'm at a quandry with this because I realized earlier last week that it's airing opposite The Steelers-Saints games and Steeler games take precedent with me (my wife on the other hand will catch the Walking Dead). I can't record it so hopefully it will show up on Demand next week.

The wife caught the trailer and is interested in watching it! Score!!!

Anyone catch it last night? I was wanting to see it but we were at some friends house and I missed it.Dammit!

I watched and it was bad a$$! Thrasher, I'm sure they'll re-run the hell out of the first episode all this week before the second one premieres, so check your local listings, as the saying goes. It really got things off to a good start.

I caught it last night On Demand and all I have to say is Wow ! I was surprised at just how bloody this was. I never expected to see any gut munching on it (albeit on a horse,but still ). Great start to the show. Looking forward to next week!

I DVR'd this last week and finally watched it last night. It was good! I know I'm hooked. Looking forward to tomorrow night's episode.

I have to sneak around to watch anything like this because my wife can't stand any kind of zombie or monster or supernatural event movie. She gets scared and won't sleep and then blames me for her tiredness. Oh, well, it's a small sacrifice to make for peace in my home.

Episode #2 was kickass! When the Sheriff chopped up that zombie so he could cover himself with all the goo & guts to "smell dead," I thought my wife was gonna ralph.

Yeah that was pretty gross! And a pretty cool idea. I don't think I've ever seen that thought of as a way to sneak past the zombies.

Killer episode indeed,So far the whole series has been kick ass.It has so much more depth than your run of the mill zombie show.I dont think Rick is gonna be too happy when and if he finds his wife though.
