I saw Deep Purple live in 1985 ( I was 15) and since then I have been to hundreds of concerts and this still remains the best concert I have ever seen. |

| I've seen Deep Purple and they were great. Ian Gillan is one of my all time favorite vocalists. Would love to meet him someday. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I went with Zep because when I was a youngster I spent my first paycheck on their whole cassette catalog..... Never done that with any band. |

They would of had more energy back then for their shows. |

| I went with Deep Purple. Songs like Child in Time, Highway Star, Black Night, and Pictures of Home are just a few favorites that come to mind. I also really enjoy the Perfect Strangers album. Haven't heard anything following The Battle Rages On, but I'm sure it's good. |

| Deep Purple for me, Blackmore is amazing, Gillen is more amazing, Pace is just as good as Bonham IMO.( I know people will hate me for that statement but I have always felt that he was slightly over-rated) |

| Both for very different reasons for me:
Zeppelin - For bluesiness
Purple - For classical/jazziness
I pretty much concur with everything Manny said.
And by the way, I went on ahead and helped out Deep Purple in the poll. |

No need to "hate" for a mere opinion. Bonham sounds easier than he actually is, the timing in what he did is what made him great. Pace has quick hands but his footwork falls short too most of his contemporaries.
After I saw Purple at The California Jam, I went home and switched my kit to left handed. Being just a greenhorn on a kit, it did wonders for multi-limb dexterity in my playing later on._________________ |

Sorry, hate may be a strong term. What I was trying to say is that sometimes it seems like no criticism of a musician is allowed if they died prematurely. Who knows what level of awesomeness could have been achieved if Bonham, Hendrix, Moon, Vaughn, etc had lived longer and further explored the limits of their talent? |

Period. I like Led Zeppelin as well, but on a whole, Deep Purple rules. Moreover the band also features my all time favourite vocalist. |
