When Ask and Mood meet again they don’t talk together. They drink wine and don’t stop to kiss each other. They remain locked up, withdrawn on themselves and on their own pleasure. But when they must leave each other for a while, Ask wonders what Mood is doing. But sometimes the time is too long and Ask falls into a melancholic mood. On his side Mood takes refuge in the nature to forget how much he misses Ask. Both are only waiting for one thing : to meet again to drink wine and to kiss each other with passion.

It is certainly one of the albums of 2010 especially from the perspective of Stoner, Psychedelic Metal but forget about "tags," this is just a damn catchy rock album. Please support Alunah and check out this album, especially if you are a fan of female-fronted rock bands as I think Alunah are now right at the top of that pile of bands now. 9.5/10 (Doommantia)


VOODOOSHOCK "s/t" Second hand CD - Traditional doom - 2002 - Buy It now
Germany's Voodoo Shock (strange name, that) rose from ashes of former Rise Above act Naevus. Even if you've never heard Naevus, though, they'll sound familar, with Ozzy-ish vox singing songs full of wonderful doom/stoner cliches like "electric mind" and "rainbow sky". Slow to mid tempo, melodic but ultra heavy, this is in the style of Terra Firma, Sheavy, Trouble, Spirit Caravan, y'know the sort of thing. The riffs are weighty, but Voodoo Shock's perculiarity might be their penchant for spacey mellow parts. Also they cover "Nights In White Satin"! (Aquarius Records)

EMPEROR "Promotheus" Tape - Technical death metal / Black metal - 2001 - Buy it now
Much of this album is actually more along the lines of technical death than black metal in terms of guitar tones and riff structure, but there is still plenty of the darkest of genres left. Symphonic instruments provide atmosphere to nearly every crevice of the album, and the vocals, both black and clean, are done to absolute perfection. Also, every now and then, the guitars slip back into black metal territory. The occasional melodies are also done perfection, and are inserted at exactly the right moments. Being any more detailed than that would be really quite hard to do, as I honestly can's think of any good comparisons, including their own previous material. This is truly an album I?ve never, ever heard before. (Metalstorm)

SURTR unleash a dark atmosphere of traditional doom metal on its debut World Of Doom. The band paints a gloomy picture of the world using the hallmarks of doom metal pioneers. They set up the basics of upcoming riots through a concept-album using an analogy between the giant SURTR's legend and modern societies.

So I highly recommend this album. It's all well-done and not once do I get the feeling that the band is approaching the style ironically. This is late 60s/early70s music performed by people that (I imagine) worship that era and take its sounds very seriously. Like just about the entirety of the Grave Mistake roster, Deep Sleep play early `80s hardcore, though with more of an adolescent, scratchy vocal front and a much less abrasive coating. They're often compared to Descendents, and while I wouldn't have thought of the comparison myself, it makes sense to draw a parallel to Descendents' early work upon listening, though of course without the noticeably poppy or upbeat edge.
