I've thinned my CD's out a bit and don't buy nearly as many as I once did... I'm down to about 3,200 CD's and about 175 demos and cassettes. About 40 DVD's of videos and live performances.

I just recently finished adding up all the crap in my Rateyourmusic account so I can actually answer this! The final tally is: 709 "real" CDs, 219 CD-Rs, 8 (music related) DVDs, 71 vinyl, and 9 (music related) VHS tapes.

Total: 1016 pieces.

If I ever feel industrious enough I'll drag whatever cassettes I still own out of the closet and add those in as well.

I just went over the 1800 mark in cds for the New Year. I don't own enough vinyl, dvds, vhs or tapes worth mentioning.

About 1500 CDs, 300 to 400 tapes (I think), 2 to 4 music DVDs (depends on whether I decide 2 of them count), possibly 1 music VHS (it's both the same as one of the questionable DVDs and something I'm not positive I actually owned), 1 vinyl kid's album, and one 8-track.

My M-S account says 744 CDs, 30 vinyls, 11 tapes and 1 DVD. + 1 LP, which is banned from that site Very Happy

1320 CDs for sure, estimated 20 tapes, and 47 DVDs.

23 of the DVDs were part of several CD/DVD combos. Also figure about 100 of those CDs are comedy albums.

I have over 300 items in total but that includes CDs, DVDs, tapes and vinyl and promo stuff of The Darkness; I own 35 items by them - that's more than 10% of my whole collection and that doesn't include the related stuff like Stone Gods and British Whale lol!

According to rate your music:

Cassette-76
CD-2665
DVD-252 (only music related)
vinyl-324
VHS-87

Almost correct there are a few stray concert bootleg DVD's and CD's I have been unable to add to the site

Haha, that'd be fine if I ever get round to replacing the last of'em with CD copies. That's been an ongoing project for goin' on 20 years now. If and when I ever do upgrade the last couple of stragglers, CD's will probably be obsolete too. Very Happy

Seriously, though, the few that I have left are mainly demo tapes by local bands (one of which has my name in the thank-you list) and some other odds and ends that to my knowledge aren't available on CD (or are just too damn hard to find or too expensive on CD)... but I can't bring myself to simply chuck'em, even though I don't even have a cassette player to play'em on anymore. They're basically museum pieces at this point.

Replacing my vinyl, tapes and now VHS concert tapes has been ongoing project for eons, I usually just give away my vinyl, VHS and tapes, when I replace them, usually the tapes and VHS get donated to my local library.
