I emailed Andy Boulton today to check on the status of the new Blade album. Being the cool, down-to-earth guy that he is, he replied within the hour. Here is the good new he passed along to me:

Hi John, good to hear from you and may I also wish you a very happy new year to you and yours. The good news on the new Tokyo Blade cd is that everything music/artwork/photo's and sleve design etc is with the record company TODAY! At long last it's finally happening and it would not have done if it hadn't been for our loyal fans like YOU. You made it possible by pre-ordering the CD as we had to pay for absolutely everything ourselves and were it not for you and our friends it wouldn't have happened at all! Record companies, even SONY won't pay for a thing these days and it was a very long hard struggle for us but we made it so a BIG thank you once again. We are now at the mercy of the pressing plant of course but the release date is the 18th April so you should have your copy plus free t-shirt and bonus gift about 3 or 4 weeks earlier. Once again sincere thanks from myself and the band and we hope you will be pleased with the CD etc. and we hope to see you in the US on the road somewhere my friend, we are working on getting some US dates and the web site www.TokyoBlade.com will be updated. Thanks for your patience it's been a long wait but I'm sure you'll be happy with the result.

The tune he sent me is KILLER [It is actually called "LunchBox". Not sure if a lunchbox is called a lunch "case" in the UK, but pretty funny typo anyhow!]! The new singer has some cool pipes. When they claimed this was gonna be what the third album was gonna sound like 25 years ago, they nailed it. The most anticipated album, for me, in a LOOOONNNGGG time!

He sent me another track called "Condemned to Fire" which is even more smokin'! Very old school. If you dug the latest Accept, you guys will drool over the new TB.

Nico has a 21 second scream at the end of that one. Reminicent of old Halford.

Great great album, specialy LUNCH CASE, FORGED IN HELL´S FIRE and NO CONCLUSION are great songs. A real buy or die fans of any heavy metal fan. Dont think you will hear the old TB sound, this sound more like BRAINSTORM, PRIMAL FEAR etc...., its because the singer, the guy from DOMAIN.

The only album i own by tokyo blade is no remorse.

Haven't heard it in ages, but i still recall it to be a solid metal album.

I'm listening to this CD right now, this is the 3rd time listening to side one ( the first five tracks) and it is excellent. It sounds familiar, but fresh. Excellent!

I just got my copy, and it's one of the best albums ever

It ended on my wife´s top 10 list of 2011 but not on mine top 15 list. I like the album a lot but i think others this year were even better.

I've listened to it once and can't remember any song. Probably should spin it once more.
