Aerosmith will release "Tough Love: Best Of The Ballads" on May 10th through Geffen Records.

The Hollywood Reporter reported in early February that sales of Aerosmith's greatest-hits collections had increased more than 250 percent as a result of Steven Tyler's appearance on "American Idol" as a judge for the show's tenth season. The band's 1994 compilation "Big Ones," saw increased sales of 260 percent after the show's January 19th premiere. Meanwhile, 2004's "Devil's Got a New Disguise: The Very Best of Aerosmith," got a 146 percent boost after the second week of "Idol." Two more greatest-hits collections registered surges of 137 percent and 147 percent. Additionally, the band's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" single was downloaded 34,000 times for the week ending January 30th, an increase of 363 percent. The band's 1973 hit "Dream On" saw 26,000 downloads, which represented a 318 percent spike over the week before.

'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing' didn't make the cut? I'm shocked. Must be some red tape preventing that. And when did 'Ragdoll', 'Living on the Edge' and 'Love In An Elevator' become ballads?

Oh well. Another comp I won't be getting. As much as it pains me to admit it, it looks like this American Idol thing is working out for Steven and the band. *shudder*

It's hard to believe a song like "You See Me Crying" isn't a part of a compilation like this, as I feel it is the second best ballad next to "Dream On"

and since when was Love in a Elevator a ballad?

I guess that means that we'll be seeing even more celebrity has-been rock stars on TV.

I might not agree with a song or two being in there but its Aerosmith and despite the fact that Tyler has sold his soul to commercial bs (American Idol) Its still freakin Aerosmith

I'm surprised they didn't tack on an unreleased track or something live. Something "new" to attract fans that have all this dreck already.

Although I see this comp is coming from Geffen Records, so I guess they were limited on material. Looks like Geffen just trying to cash-in on the Steven Tyler / AI gravytrain. I wonder if the band has any input on this release?
