I agree.

Wonder how she got all the kids to be in the vid with her? Not one of them knew what her voice was like, or the song its self?

They're all 13 and wanted to be in a music video on YouTube...

Back in the day, it would be 13 year olds wanting to be in a music video on MTV....

back in the day, MTV played videos 13 year olds wanted to be in!

Yeah - like us at 13 wanting to be in Metal videos!!!!!!

I've been hearing talk about this song for a week or two now, but the first time I actually heard it was just now. As Shawn said, it's pretty typical pre-teen Disney Channel/Nickelodeon stuff... no better or worse than any of the records pumped out by Miley Cyrus, the "iCarly" chick or the cast of "Victorious." (and since my kids watch a lot of Nickelodeon, and my niece is a Disney Channel kid, I unfortunately get exposed to lots of both).

The over-usage of auto-tune is pretty funny though. Do we hear that chick's actual voice anywhere in the song??

So the auto-tune is what makes her voice sound funny? It's robotic to say the least...

I actually thought she just had a very strange voice. Razz

She's back for more:

The dislike to like ratio is nowhere near what Friday was. The song is Slaughter in the Vatican compared to Friday, but that isn't saying a whole lot.

Guys, you're all missing the true genius of Rebecca Black. "Friday" is more than just a shallow pre-teen pop abomination, but an ingeniously clever satire. Allow me to explain.

The first verse, "7 AM wakin' up in the morning, gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs..." is meant as a portrait of the monotony of everyday life as child in her early stages of development into adulthood. It's the sincerest way of saying that time has passed, and that the tedious routines that kept her bound to childhood are now serving as a barrier to her adulthood. Once the lines regarding her friends come in and the music begins to change into the song's pre-chorus segment, it's clear that this scenario is represented as an escape from the pedestrian nature of her life. The line "which seat should I take?" gains a new symbolic meaning when the accompanying video is viewed, where it is revealed that there is only one seat available.

The chorus, with it's chants of "Friday, Friday", "Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun", and of course "Partying, Partying" all clearly represent the alternative to the lifestyle described in the first verse. It paints a gritty picture of a lifestyle of excess used as a means of escape. Of course this is all wrapped up in the glossy pop-sheen that gave the song its fame, and its infectious chorus belies its true meaning. That is the genius of "Friday". It serves as an exaggerated window into the pre-teen existence, showing its dark nature, yet disguising it within the cloak of a mechanical and formulaic pop song, which too fits the song's meaning.

Your'e all fools to doubt Rebecca Black's talent.

I still maintain that "Friday" is the greatest pop song of our generation. The fact that the song has ruined Rebecca Black's life is further testament to its true power

Oh, has it now? How so?

I'd never heard of this girl until a few days ago when I saw something on Google or MSN about Rebecca Black's new single and I was thinking "Who is Rebecca Black? Must be some Disney/Nick tween star turned pop tart."

By chance I clicked this thread last night and learned more about her than I wanted to. lol!
