A 7-2 rout! Hawks get their first win, finally. Might be a little too late, the Nucks are up 3-1, but it felt good to get a win.

Dave Bolland played his first game and what a game it was! A dominating performance with three points and shutting down the Sedin line.

The only bad thing about this game was the refereeing. Chicago's tough guy John Scott got two 10 minute misconducts in the third, basically for nothing. First he was on the ice during a scrum and well, did nothing (lost his gloves, but he didn't punch anyone). The second time, he looked at Raffi Torres before a faceoff and said "hello Raffi" and got a misconduct. Obviously the refs knew he was going to beat the smurf poo out of Torres for knocking out Brent Seabrook in the last game (for which the NHL decided not to give a suspension for, despite the fact Torres just returned from a suspension for a similar headshot).

Yeah, okay, I don't know what Scott was actually telling Torres, but not to digress - WHAT THE HELL?! What are the officials trying to do? Suck the life out of the rivalry? You have to let Scott and Torres fight, it's a hockey tradition to force a player to own up to their actions. It builds up the rivalry, sets the tone for the next game and gets the fans into it. Worst part is, after Scott got tossed, the Canucks suddenly grew balls and started acting tough and Hawks' Swede Viktor Stalberg ended up having to fight Kevin Bieksa. Ridiculous. Scott beating Torres up would have taken about ten seconds, it would have stopped the cheap shots and yapping and would have made tonight a perfect hockey night! Smurf you, NHL!

Sharks can suck my butt!

Kings had a friggin' meltdown in the second period yesterday. Can't believe they gave that game away in the second period after having a four point lead!

A good old fashioned butt whipping ! Pretty funny actually.

Lari,I think the NHL is trying to clean up their image. A lot of non-fans think it's a brutish violent game while the old schoolers hate to see that kind of ref/league interence. It's probably going to get worse now that the NHL inked a 10 year broadcasting partnership with NBC yesterday.

Great job by the Penguins last night to take a 3-1 lead over the Lightning. It's just too bad they let Tampa back into the game from a 2 goal deficit and take it into double overtime.Oh well, a win's a win. Now finish them off on Saturday !

Ugh - my Rangers lost in 2OT after blowing a 3-0 lead going into the third period.

Sadly the Rangers will probably lose the next game.

They just can't get over that hump.

It actually has been a good series - Washington has just been slightly better and that's all that matters.

BTW Ult, Ryan Miller stole another one for Buffalo.

They would've been swept by Philly already if it wasn't for his play in goal.

I don't know about that. The NHL has been through this already several times. You always see people (non-fans, old women, tree huggers) saying how violent the game is, but it's not like those people come to the games, why listen to them? Fights or no fights, guaranteed they won't come watch hockey anyway. It's part of the game like punching is a part of boxing. Overwhelming majority of real hockey fans like the fights and so do the players, coaches, management and thus does the league, considering fights per season have been around the 700 mark the last four seasons. It used to be over a thousand per season, but that's because a lot of those one-dimensional players have been eliminated from the game. Not that there was anything wrong with being a 'tough guy', but with the crackdown on interference, you have to be able to keep up with the game at least somehow, even as an enforcer. See Shawn Thornton for instance, he is not a liability to his team.

Anyway, another solid W for the Hawks tonight. That's two dominating performances in a row. They are still behind 3-2 and need to keep it up to stay alive. But you have got to think Vancouver and especially Luongo, who has been yanked from the net twice in a row, is starting to get nightmares of seasons past...

A bit lucky, I'd say. One clear win, two OT wins and one blowout loss. But it's been a great series so far. The Kings have certainly been more feisty than most expected.

But, assuming the Sharks do advance, I'd 100% want them to win the West ahead of the Red Wings or the Canucks.

Will the Caps face the winner of the Flyers/Sabres series?

I only caught it in bits & pieces. My father had control of the remote at my brother's house and was flipping between that and the Phillies game, where Halladay had a career high 14 strike-outs. The Sixers somehow survived another day as well.

All-in-all, it was a good day to be a Philly sports fan.

Hawks come back from 0-3 to force a game seven.

Had to go to overtime in game six. Not as convincing a win as in the previous two. Rookie Ben Smith scored the winner. He's been great so far.
