| Great album.
Not sure why you used the word "eponymous". |

| Excellent album, part of the great crop that came out of FL in the early 90's. They don't make em like this anymore. |

| This is my favorite album from 1990! While they were never quite as talented as Death or Morbid Angel, they completely made up for it by executing their songs with a level of excruciating hatred and rage that their contemporaries never matched. My booklet for this album is signed by Glen Benton and Steve Asheim! My personal favorite songs on this album are "Crucifixation", "Sacrifical Suicide", and "Blaspherion". "Blaspherion" is one song that has some really cool fast parts, but then when it gets to the breakdown....Holy crap!! |

| I saw these guys plenty of times during 1990-1992 since they are local boys, way more intense live then these studio recordings capture. |

| I love Legion! It's every bit as hateful and menacing as the debut, and probably just as good too. It's a little more technical, though, so I would say it's a proper second album for the band. The second half of the album is way better than the first half IMO, although "Dead But Dreaming" is one of the album's highlights as well as one of the highlights of their live set. On the two occasions that I saw Deicide live, "Dead But Dreaming" was the only track from this album that they played. However, I did read an interview with Steve Asheim once where he stated that at some point they will do a tour where they'll play Legion live in its entirety, and you can bet that I'm not going to miss that. I've also heard rumors that the original recording of the album only lasted 22 minutes or so, so they had to record it again playing the songs at a slightly slower pace just to make the album last a reasonable amount of time. Would be cool to see a re-issue with both versions someday. |

| The first two albums are some of my favourite Death Metal albums ever. I know a lot of people prefer Legion, but I think the debut has more standout songs. I'm in the process of trying to track down all of Deicide's albums, but I only have the first two and the last two. | Nico wrote: |

I've heard those rumours too, but supposedly that was the case for Once Upon the Cross and not Legion. Although I haven't heard Once Upon the Cross in its entirety, it's a little more believable for that albums. Either way, I love the fact that Deicide made 28-30 minute albums. No room for filler |

Slayer and Dark Angel would probably agree that length of recording an album =! quality or reasonable.
If they play Legion in its entirety, they will have to make a conscious effort to play slow. Bands (especially metal bands) are notorious for speeding up their songs to rev-up the energy of the crowd. Doing this on THIS album, will make it seem all that much shorter (lol). |

| I never bought that album but I have listened to it. The first time I saw Deicide live (May 2005), they played six songs from the album. I also recall Glen Benton stating an interview once that this was his favorite Deicide album. He said something like, "I think it's just a great record all-around...except for the last two songs, the ones that Eric wrote" haha. I don't think it's quite as hateful as the first two, but I think it probably had a bigger emphasis on more memorable songs. I can certainly tell you that "When Satan Rules His World" is one of my favorite Deicide tunes! |

| I don't have it either, but I've also heard it. It's definitely a good album, and I can't see why some people think it isn't on par with the first two. I'm hoping to buy it next (either this album or Serpents of the Light). |

| I don't think it's as good as the first two to tell you the truth. I have the first two albums on a much higher pedestal than the rest of their material. I think there's something different with the approach on this album, I think the songs are much more basic and not nearly as hateful. It's still fine overall, but man those first two albums are just AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!...if that makes any sense. |

| DEICIDE - SERPENTS OF THE LIGHT
- "Serpents of the Light" – 3:03
- "Bastard of Christ" – 2:48
- "Blame It on God" – 2:45
- "This is Hell We're In" – 2:51
- "I Am No One" – 3:38
- "Slave to the Cross" – 3:15
- "Creatures of Habit" – 3:07
- "Believe the Lie" – 2:50
- "The Truth Above" – 2:45
- "Father Baker's" – 3:36
- Glen Benton - Bass, Vocals
- Brian Hoffman - Guitar
- Eric Hoffman - Guitar
- Steve Asheim - Drums
Stylistically, this one is strange. It's got some heavy riffs, typical Deicide like brutality but mixing comes off different that the previous three albums. |

| I've heard this one in its entirety and I have to say that I really like it. Even though it might not be as complex or interesting as Legion, I think that's what makes it better. The songs on Serpents are pretty memorable. Also: I just ordered Once Upon the Cross and Scars of the Crucifix They should be here in a couple of weeks! |

| A lot of people say that Deicide starts to go downhill after Once Upon the Cross, but I personally like Serpents better than its predecessor. It's the most melodic album that they had at that point, although it's still chock full of blast beats and so forth. "This is Hell We're In" is another one of my favorite Deicide tunes. The lyrics are a bit much even for Deicide, though, but I still like the album for the most part. |

| Well you guys just seem to move right through these.
Deicide - Deicide = Great album. This was always a constant play in my CD player when it came out!
Deicide - Legion = A step up from the S/T album.
Once Upon The Cross = This one is my favorite from the band. Angry and evil!!!
Serpents of the Light = Not as good as Once Upon the Cross but still kick ass. The was the last album I liked That featured the Hoffman brothers.

| the first two Deicide albums are essential death metal, with Legion being my favorite. Once & Serpents are good albums, but not very exciting. same with the 3 that follow them. they didn't really recapture the energy of the first 2 until The Stench of Redemption. _________________ |

| I love the intensity of the first few lps. One of the most brutal shows I ever saw. A lil club in San Jaun Capastrano of all places I usually don't trip much on lyrics but I kinda/sorta got turned off eventually by the content. Oh well, I was listening to "Legion" the other day while dumpiing asphalt. The guys on the paver start headbangin everytime I roll up even if I'm not bastin the tunes. _________________ |

| Bible Basher is amazing. Besides that, the album is just more solid Deicide. I wouldn't call it a slow album, but it's not quite as frantic as their other stuff. I also wouldn't consider this filler (like the band does), but it probably is not one of their best albums. Halls of Warship is a really cool title too. |
