| Anyone into these? I like getting the ones from Mojo the best...here's what I have from Mojo (Uk Rock mag):

I also have about 8 or 9 from Classic Rock mag (not catalogged yet) and one from Uncut mag... |

| I used to have a ton of them from HM Magazine. Probably still do somewhere. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I generally like the ones that come with Classic Rock mag. A few misfires here and there, but overall there've been more hits than misses. Discovered some cool bands that way. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I have a sh!t load from Classic Rock Magazine, and have discovered tons of great bands because of them but I do not often spin them and never list them on my Rate Your Music page |

Yea, I probably have a dozen of them by now, but I don't spin them regularly. I check them out for a week or so, noting the bands I like, then put them on the shelf. I don't have them catalogged as part of my cd collection either. I suppose I could, now that I have enough of them. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I like to rip them and put them on the iPod...makes Shuffle days interesting when something really obscure comes up... |

That's probably not a bad idea. It would give them more airplay. Something might catch my ear that got overlooked before. I just might do that. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I tend to hate them. I have other means of discovering new music, and they rarely hold many bands I like. I also have a hard time throwing CD's in the trash, so they just lye there cluttering my desk! _________________ |

I know a nice family in North Carolina who would take good care of them... |

| Instead of chucking them, donate them to a kind soul in need. |

| I should clarify by saying "I USED to chuck'em," cuz now that there are no decent music magazines on the rack in the US anymore, I hardly ever buy magazines...therefore, no comp CDs either.
I think I still have a Thrash comp that came with an issue of Metal Hammer UK that I bought a couple of years ago, but that's about it. Up till then, if I bought an issue of Metal Maniacs, BW&BK, etc., the free CD usually ended up being passed on to someone else or used as a coaster. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| Last year when Amoeba had their garage sale they were getting rid of a ton recent Mags (Terrorizer, Metal Hammer, and the like) for a quarter a piece. I bought them primarily for the free cds that came with them. Trying to actually read them gave me a headache. I'm not even sure there were actual articles in there - more like short strewn about blurbs. Actually in fairness one of them did have a cool re-issue review page. But here we are over a year later and I still haven't played one of the cds. And it's not because there wasn't cool stuff on there.
I used to be all about comps to discover new things - now it just seems easier to youtube it or stream a sample.

| Anybody remember a metal compilation put out by Hit Parader around 86/87? It had songs by Megadeth(Chosen Ones), Slayer(At Dawn They sleep), Agent Steel(Taken By Force), & a bunch of others I can't remember. Red cassette. |
