| Laugh all you want, but I love this band. They were playing alternative rock when alternative rock wasn't even popular (like it became in the 90s). It's even arguable that R.E.M. started a whole movement. Anyone else here like this band from Georgia? |

| Eh, I have liked some of what I've heard of this band. But nothing ever really clicked for me. |

| I pretty much like every album they have ever released ... save for "New Adventures in Hi Fi" ... which still has some good stuff on it. |

| I was a pretty big fan up to Automatic For The People. After that I pretty much stopped following them.
Funny thing about their records is almost all the ones I loved before (like Green) are my least favorite today. While the ones I didn't care for have now become the only ones I play. Fables Of Reconstruction has become my far and away favorite. |

| My all time favorite REM album is "Out of Time". To me that is just a priceless gem. Then it's "Automatic for the People", "Document" and "Green". |

| I like some of the early stuff like "Radio Free Europe" but I generally find Michael Stipe's voice too whiny and annoying. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

| Yeah, Mike definitely has one of those 'love it or hate it' type voices. I always thought his voice was cool, but I can understand the disdain. |

| I wouldn't call it disdain exactly; I definitely think REM is a talented band that can write killer songs. It's just that I can only take Stipe's vocals in small doses. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

| After a similar thread a few months ago, I picked up Monster and New Adventures... I preferred New Adventures out of the two, but also love Out of Time and Automatic... great band, and I can see a strong argument for them starting a new movement, too. |

I think thats why I had a change of heart on a lot of the later Green-era type stuff. I do like his voice, but more when it is buried in the mix. I've also come to realize I like the more reserved hooks on the older songs (Green Grow The Rushes being my favorite example of this).
I also realize I'm probably missing out by not looking into the more recent stuff. |
