I posted a trade list and the guy sent me his with the cd on it. I perused through his list and checked out the songs on youtube. Kinda dumb luck actually.

Dumb luck is the best way to discover bands IMO. You can research and peruse recommendations from Amazon or people on boards but when an unheard of band just drops in your lap because of sheer serendipity, somehow they sound even better.
