| Whoa. I had heard allot about Cynic but never looked them up until now. How is it that a band as widely praised and known as them only have two albums?
EDIT:disregard that. Didn't know about the break up.

| I'm wish TOB on this. When they're boring, they're boring. But when they jam, they JAM. |

| I am really stoked about this news too. Cynic simply rules. And while I certainly love Focus, I think that Traced in Air is every bit as good. I actually listen to that album really frequently. Re-Traced is a neat idea I guess, but I'm not as sold on it. I do like the song "Wheels within Wheels" though. |

| I actually think they are heading in the right direction. The growls and riffs from Focus are great but I really want to hear more of Pauls vocals straight with or without the vocoder again with maybe some of the electronic elements that Re-traced brought to the table. Cynic as a progressive metal band is the most interesting to me.
Sounds like this one will feature some female vocals also from the same backing vocalist that did the very few female backing vox on Focus. If they come out anything similar to What was on Portal I think it could work really well. _________________ |

Essentially, this. I've only listened to Re-Traced once; never really caught my interest. The other two albums, though very different, are very good in their own ways. Still in what I call the trifecta of death metal (Death, Carcass, and Cynic). |

| Focus is the only album I'm really familar with. Hopefully this new one jams just as much. |

Stender, I'm so glad you mentioned Portal. I totally forgot about that cd. Haha. Now that I have a steady income I think I'm going to order it (assuming they still have it for sale). |

| Yeah, I definitely don't see these guys going back to the Focus style. They're heading into that early Porcupine Tree/Riverside direction.
Fine by me. _________________ "Happy people have no stories" —Therapy? Shock Totem | The Eyesore Times | Getcha Rocks Off |

I love those demos man! Get on it, I think the site that was offering them said they were limited. That cd is definately worth the price though in my opinion._________________ |

Well, that style isn't what I'm expecting either. I'm just hoping it's as good as that record. Hearing them do something PT esque would actually be pretty cool. |

| Does anyone have the Re-Traced ep? I know it's remixed tracks. I was just wondering how it was overall. |

I like it quite a bit, if you have heard any of Pauls Aeon spoke band I would say re traced is similar to that sound. Lot of electronic influence and the songs sound more like 'songs' if that makes any sense.
Everyone is flipping out about how the one track on it that is original wheels within wheels, is amazing but Im not a huge fan, its good but not incredible. Maybe im missing something. _________________ |

I'm with you. I do like the song, as I mentioned above; but when I first it, after hearing it raved about, I was pretty disappointed. It's not as good as the songs from Traced in Air, in my opinion. |

| The preview is ok, but not fantastic. I'll still get the ep because it's Cynic and I love both their albums. I by no means believe that they need to stay metal, but even this felt a bit too mellow for me. But maybe they skipped the heavier parts for this preview.
It sounds like it might have more in common with Re-traced than with Traced in Air. |
