Another new-ish band that I've really enjoyed as of late is Argus. Their s/t debut is classic modern doom. Not reinventing the wheel, but highly enjoyable. They got a new one coming out soon too.

Apostles of Solitude is another new-ish doom band that I've been digging lately too.

Have you checked out Ghost yet, Ult? Doom with Merciful Fate influence and killer harmony vocals.

There was another new doom band that SpectreFate (remember him?) was pimping not that long ago that sounded promising, but I don't recall the name at the moment.

I love the newer Candlemass albums! The Candlemass of the 90's lost me, but I do like the newer stuff a lot.

I do really enjoy: Electric Wizard, Cathedral, Ghost, Trouble, The Obsessed (anything Wino is in really).

In the doom metal sector I pretty much only listen to Candlemass and Black Sabbath. But since I saw The Gates of slumber live I have sought out their two latest albums. Top notch underground doom.

You should all check out the band KRUX...present and former members of Candlemass, Entombed, Opeth & Yngwie etc...sort of a Doom Supergroup...

Some recent doom I've been spinning:







Devil plays a stoner-doom kind of style. The Living Fields are more doom-death, but the singer lays into the high-pitched stuff a lot. More on the last album than this newest one, but it's still great. And Question of Madness is more traditional doom. Really good albums!

Serpentcult is another new-ish doom band that I really enjoy.

Weight of Light is awesome. I believe they have a new album out as well, but I read the lead singer left and the I believe the guitarist took over vocal duties as well. Don't know how that will effet the band's sound.
